Uz prezentacije Hrvatske i Japana, škola i oblika obrazovanja, japanski su učenici sudjelovali u Gimnaziji Sesvete u raznim radionicama i nastavnim satima.

Pripremili profesori Gimnazije Sesvete: Nikola Sebastian Jambrošić i knjižničarka Ruža Jozić. Na engleski jezik prevela Vilijana Mršić, prof. Gimnazije Sesvete.

Gimnazija Sesvete (High school Sesvete) and Kinjo Gakuin high school from Japan - international student exchange event

Gimnazija Sesvete (High school Sesvete) together with Zagreb department of education organized an international student exchange event with High school Kinjo Gakuin from Nagoya. Japanese students and teachers arrived in Zagreb on March, 21st 2019. They were wellcomed by students and teachers from Gimnazija Sesvete at Franjo Tuđman airport. On Friday, March 22 nd Japanese students and teachers visited Gimnazija Sesvete (High school Sesvete), where they participated in the program organised for them by the students and the teachers. The program consisted of multimedial presentations and workshops which presented Gimnazija Sesvete, Croatian educational system, attractions, beauty and culture of Zagreb and Croatia. Japanese students also presented their school, city and talked about education in Japan. Japenese students visited several lessons and took part in various activities such as sport, drama, media culture etc. The visit ended with The Way of Cross and the Holy Mass in the parochial centre in Sesvete, enriched by wonderful singing of both choirs, from Gimnazija Sesvete and Kinjo Gakuin. The pinnacle of the event was a gala concert of Gimnazija Sesvete choir and Kinjo Gakuin glee club in the Europe cinema in Zagreb. The main purpose of this event was promotion of music as a universal way of connecting people as well as promoting school choir singing. This event enabled young people to get to know different cultures and customs, make friendships, exchange experiences and develop tolerance and mutual respect. Everyone could really feel as a citizen of the world.

Workshop Glagolitic alphabet and calligraphy was held in the library of Gimnazija Sesvete with the participation of students of Gimnazija Sesvete and Kinjo Gakuin.

The workshop Glagolitic alphabet prepared by the school librarian and the students, was especially interesting for the Japanese students. The librarian presented glagolitic alphabet as the oldest writing system, which Croatians started using in the 10th and 11th century, then Cyrillic alphabet used in the 12th century and Latin alphabet strarted to be used in the 14th century.

The school librarian, together with the students, prepared bookmarkers with Glagolitic letters (using students' drawings as templates) as well as sayings and quotations by famous people in Croatian and English language, which students wrote in Glagolitic alphabet and gave to Japanese students as gifts. They showed interest in our historic alphabet and tried to write some messages in Glagolitic alphabet themselves. Japanese students presented and showed calligraphy writing using original writing set and special paper. They donated their works to the school and students as a memento of this unforgetable experience.

Prepared by the teachers of Gimnazija Sesvete: Mr. Nikola Sebastian Jambrošić, music teacher and Ruža Jozić, school librarian. Translated into English by Vilijana Mršić, professor at the Sesvete High School.

Learning Japanese Script and Croatian Glagolitic Script

Ona govori hrvatski.

Many thanks to Mrs. Ruža Jozić, librarian of the High School Sesvete, Zagreb, for sending us the text and photos.
