The crew of the ship Tegetthoff was composed of 24 persons, out of them 12 Croats. Their names are Petar Lusina (from the island of Cres), Lovro Marolla (from Rijeka), Ante Vecerina (from Draga near Rijeka), Petar Falesic (from Bakar), Juraj Stiglic (from Bakar), Jakov Sucic (from Volosko), Fran Lettis (from Volosko), Vicko Palmic (from Lovran, on the photo), Josip Latkovic (from Plomin), Ante Katarinic (from Mali Losinj), Ante Lukinovic (from Pucisca on the island of Brac), Ante Zaninovic (from Sv. Nedilja on the island of Hvar).

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) the father of Radio Technology and Wireless Communication since 1893

The principles of Radio Communication and Wireless Communication were layed down by Nikola Tesla, distinguished Croatian – American inventor, in 1893, during his spectacular public lecture in the St Louis concert hall, in front of 5000 people. The event was described in detail by Margaret Chaney in her monograph Tesla / Man Out of Time , in Chapter 6 entitled Radio. We provide an important testimony by William Gundry Broughton, son of Henry Primm Broughton (1865-1959) who served as Tesla’s assistant during his lecture in St. Louis. Nikola Tesla is the precurusor of mobile-phone technology for more than hundred years.

Japan – Croatia events in Tokyo in May 2022

Five generations of Japanese Ambassadors to Croatia, hosted by the Croatian Ambassador H. E. Mr. Dražen Hrastić and his spouse Mrs. Blaženka Hrastić, gathered together for an evening on 16 May 2022 that brought back nostalgic stories of their time in Croatia. On that occasion, Yoko Nishii had a mini concert. Yoko Nishii had the honor of performing also at the Spring Afternoon Tea for the spouses of ambassadors of various countries at Croatian Embassy on 19 May 2022, hosted by Croatian ambassador’’s spouse Mrs. Blaženka Hrastić.

1143 years since the first international recognition of Croatia

The first international recognition of Croatia came in 879 from Pope John VIII, i.e., 1143 years ago! The Croatian Prince Branimir, 9th century, made important steps in strengthening the relations with Rome. During the solemn divine service in St. Peter’s church in Rome in 879, Pope John VIII gave his blessing to the prince and the whole Croatian people, about which he informed Branimir in his letters, the first one dated on May 21, 879. This was the first time that the Croatian state was officially recognized. A special cultural program was organized on 15th January 2022 at Croatian Embassy in Tokyo on the occasion of the first diplomatic recognition of Croatia in 1992, on which occasion Yoko Nishii played her solemn pianistic concert.

Nenad Bach’s idea of Parkinson’s World Table Tennis Championship gathered 21 countries in the city of Berlin, among them Croatia as well. The German Open and the World Championship showed that the competition is steadily growing each year. Nenad Bach and George Chan won gold medal in the doubles, as representatives of the USA. The next World Championship, in October 2022, will be hosted by Croatia, the homeland of Nenad Bach.

NFCA and CFU To Celebrate 30 Plus Years of Croatian Independence on June 26th Celebration Webinar

On Saturday, June 26th at 11:00am eastern, the NFCA will be co-hosting with the Croatian Fraternal Union, a global webinar salute to the founding of the Republic of Croatia’s democracy. The NFCA’s webinar will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Independence Day and to honor another “Statehood Day” (1990 milestone) and Croatia’s successful and historic road to democracy and it’s independence achieved especially in the 1990-1991 time frame.

Miracle from Dubrovnik on the 1049th St Vlaho Festivity 2021

The aim of the article is to show just several details from the city of Dubrovnik during the festivity of Sveti Vlaho (St. Blaise), with a special emphasis on children. The festival is organized each February for more than thosand years – precisely 1049. This event connects all the citizens of Dubrovnik with numerous families from the environing towns and villages in picturesque local very solemn dresses, as well as tourists. Dubrovnik is considered as one of the most beautiful cities on the Mediterranean.

“Nenad, Who Plays Ping Pong” is a short film about my passion for ping pong and using it to help those afflicted with Parkinson’s. It is an Official Selection of 2020 Mountainfilm Festival, and was chosen Daily Short Pick on FilmShortage.com, May 27th, 2020. The film is touring and was screened last week in Sao Paulo, Brazil and will be touring August 24-26 in Southampton, New York, US. You can get more information here. We are now fortunate to have the film subtitled in 15 languages. My songs “Vukovar” “Everything is Forever” and “I Will Follow” were recently played by musical genius Pete Jones on his radio program in London.

Kristian Krekovic connecting India and Croatia via his 1936 portrait of Mahatma Gandhi

Distinguished Croatian painter Kristian Kreković (1901-1985) portrayed Mahatma Gandhi in his atelier in Paris in 1936, while Gandhi was meditating there. The portrait is kept in the Gallery of Kreković ( Museu Kreković ) in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Two panneaus containing Ghandi’s portrait have been presented in Dec 2019 to the Embassy of India in Zagreb and to the Croatian – Indian Society. This was a gift of the Society of the Friends of the Glagolitic Script, and the solemn event took place in the Napredak hall in Zagreb, during the intercofessional Christmas meeting organized by the Croatian – Indian Society, directed by Mr Joginder Singh Nijjar.

First ever Parkinson’s World Table Tennis Championships, will happen on October 11-13, 2019 in Pleasantville, New York USA at the Westchester Table Tennis Center. The ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) is supporting this event. The new project will form part of the 6th Pillar of the ITTF Foundation that promotes health through table tennis, with this first event aimed at raising awareness of Parkinson’EUR(TM)s Disease and improving the lives of those diagnosed with it. For international music composer, Nenad Bach, table tennis has been the key to regaining his ability to play the guitar and pursue his passion for music once more. The talks stage features an incredible lineup of inspiring people from around the world in conversation – representing all areas of industry, academia, the arts, sciences and public life. Croatia and France in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Moscow

This is the greatest succes of Croatian football in history, surpassing the third place of Croatian soccer team in 1998 during the FIFA World Cup in France. We recall the names of Davor Šuker, Zvonimir Boban and Slaven Bilić from 1998, and the names of Luka Modrić, Ivan Rakitić and Dejan Lovren in 2018. Before arriving to the final match, Croatian won in matches with very strong teams: England, Russian Federation, Denmark, Argentina and Nigeria. Furthermore, we indicate in this article some very interesting historical and cultural contacts between Croatia and France. Intersteno international meeting in Croatia's capital Zagreb 2016

The annual council meeting of Intersteno and Intersteno Parliamentary and other professional Reporters’ Section was held in Zagreb from October 5-7, 2016, and was organized by the Croatian Shorthand Association, with Josip Hanjš as its president, on the photo. The event saw participation of 65 members of Intersteno and IPRS from 17 countries: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Italy, South Korea, China, Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA and Croatia. Judging from the results of this three-day event, and the reactions and impressions from the participants, the city of Zagreb was an ideal choice of host for this international event.
