If we were to attribute all our moods to the seasons, the fjaka, as a specific state of mind and body, could be said to be a conspicuous product of the summer, the result of its sweltering heat, and a general dissolution of body and spirit in the baleful high temperatures of the day, when we just don’t feel like doing anything.

CROWN invites you to attend the Third Epiduarus Festival in Cavtat,  from  August 28 to September 22 2009. The Festival has been founded and is directed by infatiguable Croatian pianist Ivana Marija Vidović, on the photo. Cavtat is a lovely town south of Dubrovnik, on Croatian coast. Among principal guests of the Festival this year will be a famous Croatian guitarist Ana Vidović.

Feri Sučić was born in 1918 within a Croatian branch in Austria, in the region of Gradišće - Burgenland. He composed or arranged 300 songs, and many of them are circulating as traditional songs. He is also known as prolific writer. An extensive monograph dedicated to his life and work has been issued last year on the occasion of 90th birthday.

The 3rd International Choir Competition was organized by sacred music association Musica Mundi in the basilica of San Crisogono in Rome from June 30 to July 5 2009. Twenty choirs participated from all over the world. Croatian choir Collegium pro musica sacra, conducted by Iva Juras on the left, earned silver diploma. This excellent Croatian choir exists for 37 years.

Zvonimir Atletic is professional Croatian photographer. His unique photos include such persons like Mother Teresa and Father Ante Gabrić, well known worldwide for their humanitarian work, especially in India. Mr Atletić had numerous exhibitions not only in Croatia, but also in Italy, France, Poland, Indonesia, Brasil, etc.

The ten-day cultural event will consist of two exhibitions representing current Croatian applied and fine arts, featuring over forty contemporary artists working in traditional and non-traditional media, such as ceramics, glass, metal, stone, textiles, unique jewelry, product design, paintings and more. A Matter of Taste (Stvar Ukusa) won the best short film award at the Heart of England International Film Festival. In the film, directed by Costa Ipsa, a middle-aged man, unsatisfied with his life, is about to commit a suicide from a roof top and the only thing standing in his way is a simple handyman.
