» Ante Glibota's hommage to Otto Piene and his HÉLIOGABALUS Berlin 18th April – 30th June 2018

THE NIGHTS OF HELIOGABALUS is homage to Otto Piene on what would have been his 90th birthday (1928-2014) . Poems by Fernando Arrabal, text by Ante Glibota (on the photo), lithographs by Otto Piene, and sculptures by Andreas Blank and Stefan Rinck. This artistic dialogue between the visual arts and poetry was conceived by Ante Glibota. Ante Glibota, a close friend of Otto Piene, will attend the opening and give an introduction. Schlachthaus.fresh&fine art will open its new exhibition space at Budapester StrassŸe 10 in Berlin Charlottenburg. Opening: 18th April 2018, duration of the exhibition: 19th April -€“ 30 June 2018.

Croatian chess player Ivan Šarić (27) won the European title for 2018 in Georgia, during the European Chess Championships organized in the city of Batumi. Along with the European title of Zvonko Kožul in 2006, this is the greatest success of Croatian chess. He won the title of Under 18 World Youth Chess Champion in 2008. He holds a notable victory over the world champion Magnus Carlsen, which he achieved at the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Norway. On the photo Ivan Šarić with his wife Zrinka Deur, who is also a chess player.

Međunarodno priznata pijanistica i pjesnikinja, Dubrovkinja Ivana Marija Vidović gostovat će u sklopu 40. koncertne sezone - Amici della Musica u Teatru Garibaldi u Mazari del Vallo na Siciliji.Dva koncerta u nizu nazvana "La canzone e poesia" oba iste večeri i to u subotu 24. ožujka s početkom u 18:15 a potom u 20:45. Vidović je pozvana kao posebna gošća ovog projekta. Nastupit će uz Giovannija Mattaliana, eklektičkog talijanskog klarinetistu, saksofonistu, skladatelja i profesora na Konzervatoriju u Palermu.

Kristian Kreković (1901-1985), distinguished Croatian painter, spent the years 1948-1952 in Sweden, where he made several portraits of members of the Schmitz family in Malmo. It is known that during that period Kreković made a portrait of the Swedish King Gustav Vth. He also portrayed Mahatma Gandhi in his atelier in Paris in 1931, who often visited him. Upon the intiative of Mrs. Ljerka Galic of the Croatian Foundation Heritage, an exhibition of Kreković's works of art has been organized in Malmo in October 2017.

The French opera magazine Diapason has awarded the newly released CD Germanico in Germania (opera by Nicola Porpora) with their prestigious Diapason d'or in their March issue. The CD honored in this way has been performed by Max Emanuel Cencic (Germanico), Julia Lezhneva (Ersinda), Dilyara Idrisova (Rosmonda), Mary-Ellen Nesi (Arminio), Juan Sancho (Segeste), Hasnaa Bennani (Cecina), with Capella Cracoviensis (orchestra), Jan Tomasz Adamus (conductor). This prestigious award will be resumed in December 2018.

Alexander Van der Bellen, President of Austria made a decision to award Miro Gavran with "Gold Merit Badge of the Republic of Austria". It will be awarded on March 20th 2018. He received international "Dr. Alois Mock Europa-Preis" award for affirmation of European values in his literary works in December in Vienna. Prominent publisher from Vienna - "Seifert Verlag" published four of his novels in hardcover. Gavran has had nine theatre premieres in German in Austria and Germany so far and there is one more premiere coming up in Vienna in Septermber 2018.

Franjo Krežma entered the Vienna Conservatory as nine-years-old boy, and was the youngest student of this Conservatory ever! He ended his student days at the age of 13. He began the spectacular concert career all over Europe. When he was sixteen, a concert audience in Rome, Prague, Venice, Geneva and Paris already adored him. The critics pointed to the beauty of his sound and a phenomenal interpretation, and one wrote: "Anatomy of the genius is futile work!" In Italy, he was honored to play on Paganini's violin, and at age 17, he became a concertmaster at the Berlin Royal Orchestra (today's Berlin Philharmonic). His compositions are performed by Krešimir Marmilić and Yoko Nishii, who issued a CD.

Stjepan Hauser of the 2Cellos and Petrit C‡eku performing Tango en Skai by Roland Dyens with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra at the Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, Croatia, in October 2017. Elisabeth Fuchs, conductor, arrangement by Hauser and Filip Sljivac, filmed and edited by MedVid production. Ronald Dyens (1955-2016), distinguished French classical guitarist, died prematurely in 2016. Cello and guitar are a superb combination for this beautiful tango composition. Petrit Ceku, young and brilliant guitarist on the photo, educated at the Academy of Music of the University of Zagreb, is of Albanian origin from Kosovo.

Jelko Yuresha was born in 1937 as Željko Jureša in Croatia's capital Zagreb. In 1958, Jelko Yuresha emigrated to England, later gaining United Kingdom citizenship. Yuresha made his professional debut as a first guest artist with the newly formed Irish Theatre Ballet in Dublin. He joined London Festival Ballet (today English National Ballet) in 1959. In 1959, Yuresha partnered with Belinda Wright at a Royal Command Performance before Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in Manchester. Jelko Yuresha and Belinda Wright married in 1961. In 2017, Mr. Jelko Yuresha has donated his valuable ballet collection to his native City of Zagreb.
