Antun Lučić (Anthony F. Lucas born in Split 1855, died in Washington 1921) is the father of petroleum industry. He discovered the first major gusher in Texas, The Lucas gusher, flowing at the rate of 80-100,000 barrels per day. It blew in January 1901. About 50,000 people came to see it.
