Danny Schechter 1942 - 2015 journalist, documentary filmmaker, social justice activist and media critic
By definition Danny was a journalist, documentary filmmaker, social justice activist and media critic, but that would be a reduction and simplification of what Danny real was and is. The man who understood the world affairs; talks one minute to the president of a country and the next minute talks to a group of elementary school kids. Only highly intelligent and highly compassionate people can do that. Danny did and could work for major networks as a highly paid producer. By being and staying as an independent journalist, Danny chose truth vs comfort. Only rare birds put such value on truth.

Katarina Peročević published The Right to Dignity on The Cyprus higher education Portal
Even at first glance, it is clear that we live in a materialistic world, where man is (or has already become) the means and the goods to make a profit. We live in modern slavery, where slaveholders have been replaced by employers, in which hard labor work has been replaced with working hours from morning to evening and in which, instead of meals, we get a cellphone and the company car, so we can always be available and on time. That is the reason why today, more than ever, human rights are being heavily discussed and among them also the right to dignity. Isn’t that a paradox in a society where the basic human needs are not achieved...

Brian Gallagher: a historic day - the Croatian diaspora can take pride in its support of Croatian generals
Brian Gallagher: Certainly there were those outside Croatia who also supported the generals. I will single out here the former adviser to Margaret Thatcher, Robin Harris. He helped raise the profile of the case and was forthright in support. That was quite brave; believing in the innocent of alleged war criminals is not necessarily a very popular thing to do. The Croatian diaspora can take pride in its support. Indeed, Croatian Americans took part in the defence – Luka Misetic and Tom Kuzmanovic. And from Canada was Ana Katalinic, the Gotovina case manager.

Igor Ilić's first novel F*ckin' Foreigner available on Amazon
| Fuckin' Foreigner: Igor Ilic Welcomes You To America! In his first novel, he tells a story full of wit and hard-boiled realism. We are introduced to the Croat Igor and venture with him from Croatia to Las Vegas and to San Francisco Bay Area as he chases the mirage of the American Dream. Pressured by the harsh reality of debt, poor wages and unemployment, our 31 year old hero of this novel is more than just another great American novel's vagabond. He is a reminder of Umberto Eco's mantra that a real hero is a hero by mistake.

Marie Bernadette Rouaux - Universal Language
My name is Marie-Bernadette Rouaux, I chose these few photos that recall me some “reflections and spaces” from Bretagne and some wonderful days in Croatia, its intensive blue and green beauty. I loved Varazdin under the rain, an evening at Zagreb, the river Sava near Cigoc, the green immersion at Plitvice, the Cadillac at Vitina in Herzegovina, the picnic at Majerovo Vrilo, the sunset on the Kornati, the isle of Solta where I feel at home. At 8 a.m., waiting for the departure to Split, I took two photos in the same moment , the rowboat on the quiet sea and the taking flight of a seagull. I felt the strange sensation of suspended time. When I take pictures, I feel fugitive sensations and deep feelings and it’s a great joy for me to share emotions without words, just going with the flow, “au fil de l’eau”.
