» Maxo Vanka, a famous Croatian painter

Maxo Vanka (Zagreb 1889 - Mexico 1963) created spectacular murals in the Croatian Catholic church of St. Nicholas in Pittsburgh, USA, in 1937. On each side of the altar are Croatian people, on the left from the Old World, and on the right from the New. Shooting of a feature film about Maxo Vanka is planned by Mladen Juran, Zagreb.

Ivana Zahirovic, outstanding Croatian flutist, has won the first prize at the 4th International Competition for woodwinds "AUDI Mozart 2008". The competition took place in Rovereto, Italy, from 9th to 24th May 2008.

More than 300 artists from 71 countries contributed to the Lilliput Exhibition of Ceramics in the town of Rovinj in Croatia. Judging by the number of countries it is the largest exhibition of ceramics in the world. In order to be entered, a sculpture must be less than 17 centimetres high and weigh less than a kilogram. Reported by Liu Fang, Chinese Central TV.
