Antun Lučić (Anthony F. Lucas born in Split 1855, died in Washington 1921) is the father of petroleum industry. He discovered the first major gusher in Texas, The Lucas gusher, flowing at the rate of 80-100,000 barrels per day. It blew in January 1901. About 50,000 people came to see it. Marin Soljačić, born in Zagreb in 1974, was promoted to Full Professor of Physics at the Massachusets Institute of Technology, Boston, USA, in July 2011. He is best known for his discovery of possibility of wireless energy transfer. He is also interested in various topics in nonlinear optical physics. Dr. Vladimir Šuvaev is a young expert for problems of deafness of children in the Russian Federation and director of the institute in Vladivostok.
