The band has been invited to perform for a concert to help support those affected by the recent tsunami in Japan and we're asking all of our friends to come out and support those affected by this terrible tragedy. Dr. Kathleen Vaughan Wilkes was a distinguished British humanist, professor of philosophy at the University of Oxford, and also taught at the Inter-University Centre in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The Kursalon, the neo-Renaissance style cafe in the town Lipik, Croatia, was constructed in 1893, with concert and a dance halls, a movie theater, restaurants, a piano bar, casino etc. It was the central point of the social and cultural life of the town until 1991, when it was destroyed  and burned during the Serbian aggression on Croatia. Larry Kirwan (left) and the band Black 47 are the subjects of a new film by filmmakers Stephanie Silber and Vic Zimet. The film weaves together a history of the band's beginnings, and by extension, a rich underlay of Irish-American history and the Diaspora.
