What is your vision on Entrepreneurship?

My entrepreneurship is holistic. It's entrepreneurship of life. It involves my whole person. It is an inside-out process. I would like to create positive change (wealth creation) by realizing certain potential but I can do it only if I am open for positive changes in myself. Instead of repeating experiences of the past, judging others and then planning and acting, my action is starting from my heart based on feelings, tuning in to future and bringing it to present by exploring all future possibilities. This requires reshaping of the will from ego-centred (small self) to the essence (real self) or 'Grand will'.

My everyday spirituality and ethics are actively involved in change/business I am undertaking. Although I often experience cultural clash it helps me to steer my inner change and growth.

How did your started your business?

After 10 years in corporate business in Croatia and 15 years in leading position in global company in the Netherlands I decided to get out of my corporate life at the age of 48 in spite of possibility for further working opportunities. I have decided to stop and return home. Without any specific plan I came to medieval sea side town Lovran in a search for the family holiday property. This was the moment when in new state Croatia social properties were turned into private. Owners of apartments in historical seaside villas built in 19th century for tourism purposes were selling it after buying it out from the state. I saw the possibility to turn them to high quality accommodation facilities combining with different packages for holiday experience.

What are the five most five important feature of a businessman/women? Please rank them in decreasing importance.

to have a feeling and ability to recognize potentials and  future trends
to know yourself and have developed self observation capability
to have self development/growth plan
to have necessary education, skills and lifelong learning attitude
to have motivation/desire to change the world for the better

What is your expectation from the Government in supporting favourable business and regulatory environment?

-Provide strategic development plans for region and local communities
-Provide subsidies for renovation of heritage properties
-Provide free consultancy to entrepreneurs when they start business
-Organise providers and suppliers into the cluster (tourism)
-Support and subside environment protection projects undertaken by private enterprises

What is the role of an enterprise/business in the current globalized world?

Mr. Martinko -on the right- receiving annual reword from Ministry of environmental protection for preservation of farm house Oraj as example for sustainable development

To secure sustainable wealth creation by creating new jobs, making positive social impact on its employees and the community and protection of the environment. Networking with related partners on the global scene.

What do you understand on business responsibility?

Securing profit for sustainable growth
Necessity for quality assurance
Fairness toward customers and sub suppliers
Education and the personal growth of its employees
Development of the civil society sector in its environment
Respect for the environment

What do you do for the civil society?

-We gave initiative and assisted in establishing NGO 'Lovrana nostra'-NGO for heritage protection in the local community.
-Initiative for the integrated local development
-Partnership with 'Eco Liburnia', an NGO for sustainable development and bio agriculture.
-Donations to several humanitarian NGOs

What is your hobby? Do you have time to practice it?

Za nekoliko dana ce iz tiska izaci trece, novo (ilustrirano), dopunjeno (nekoliko stotina novih stranica) i promijenjeno hrvatsko izdanje mojih knjiga 'Znanost – najveca avantura i izazov ljudskog roda' i 'Tragovima znanja u buducnost- Quo vadis scientia'. Uz pomoc novog nakladnika 'Medicinska naklada' iz Zagreba, elitnih recenzenata, lektora i urednika, knjige ce imati i novu opremu (ukljucujuci i novu naslovnicu).
Hvala Ti Neno.

Raduju me novi izazovi i kvalitetna suradnja. Vas

                                                                                Ante Simonic

Op-ed

Mediterranean Sounds - Croatia's Mystic Voices

Klapa Sinj - US Tour 2005 Dec 1-8

This is a sound that is unafraid of its own silence

Mysterious beauty from beyond the boundaries of human knowledge

It is as if this sound emerged from the very bowels of the Earth, only to rise up and reveal the heavens.  This sound sings of a timeless age when the beauty of the landscape and the trials of history combined to beget music, not unlike the symphony of human voices that celebrated the birth of harmony.  But these mystical voices need neither instruments nor written music to summon the forgotten language, to commence reciting the songs to the souls of those yet unborn and to the speechless heads of stone that populate the facades of our churches.  This is a sound that is unafraid of its own silences, courageous enough to test fate as its harmonies ascend the walls of the stone cities along the sea.  It is a sound that embodies the promise of a new, undiscovered, mysterious beauty from beyond the boundaries of human knowledge, a beauty that hails from the cradle of creation. That is the song that is uncovering the threads of myth on the immemorial face of the earth in order to make an offering on the altar of history: the sound of verse and the beauty of Our Beautiful *

Jakov Dukic

'Our Beautiful' are the first two words of the Croatian national anthem, and Croatians throughout the world refer to their homeland as Our Beautiful.

Klapa Sinj

For over twenty years now Klapa Sinj has been one of the most revered singing ensembles in Dalmatia.  Founded in 1982 in order to carry on and promote Croatia's musical legacy, its success has continued due to the extraordinary musical talent of its members who developed a wholly distinct performance style and even contributed a number of new compositions to the existing canon of the Klapa music.  Klapa Sinj's resume includes numerous albums and frequent concert appearances across the European continent.  Their crowning achievement came during the recent festivals of a cappella music in Verona, Bolzano and Prague where Klapa Sinj won top prizes.  Their repertory consists of a remarkable variety of traditional tunes and songs, and the joy with which they still approach each performance is audible in the beauty of the harmony created by so many disparate and singular voices.  Klapa Sinj's accomplishments are a standing testament to the fact that the magic of music can still, even if for a moment, change the world for the better.

The Draw of the Landscape

The singers from Sinj cannot avoid the canyon of Cetina when approaching the town of Omis. With the northern wind at their backs and a bit of wonder still about them from their most recent musical pilgrimage, it is precisely here at the estuary, where the Adriatic quiets the eddies of Cetina amidst the islands, the coastline and the backlands, that the Sinj singers made their long-lasting pact with the beautiful land and the music, a pact that has paid off many times over.

A memory of a particular moment and a specific space lingers on among the many reminiscences of those hot July evenings during their numerous pilgrimages to the festival in Omis.  There in the small town square beneath the rock where the streets end and the mountain looms, the Klapa singers find a bit of shade away from the curious onlookers and they commence warming up before their performance.  Neighbors offer them food and drink; they in turn soothe their souls with nourishment and song.   And so the singers from Sinj continue their pilgrimages to Omis, enjoying the music and savoring the competition at this nearly four-decades-old celebration of Croatia's many musical traditions.  It is an occasion where ensembles from Istria and Međimurje, from Zagorje and Slavonia gather to honor their native land.

Mediterranean Sounds - Croatia's Mystic Voices

Klapa Lindjo - Dubrovnik, Croatia

Their voices defend the city's freedom

Music lovers are immediately seduced with the harmony that unites the heights of the skies with the blue depths of the sea

The joyful voices of the women who make up Klapa Fa Linđo truly embrace a large swath of the Mediterranean: their harmony unites the heights of the skies with the blue depths of the sea. As their song bursts forth from the city walls, the entire world unfolds before them.  Music lovers are immediately seduced, and with their initial surprise turning to enchantment, they inevitably inquire about the singers' place of origin.  That place is Dubrovnik, Croatia, a city whose special character and unique surroundings have endowed the singers' voices with the softness of silk and the pungent aroma of the local flora.  Their songs seem sometimes to trace the outlines of the facades that adorn the streets of Dubrovnik, and sometimes to follow the flight patterns of the birds that gather above the city at sunset.  At another level, these songs guard Dubrovnik's freedom, the same freedom that was once defended with the cannons whose barrels still dot the city's ramparts and walls.  In place of the cannons, these Dubrovnik singers now use their voices to defend the city's freedom, the very freedom that has in turn permeated their songs for centuries on end.

Klapa Fa Linđo

The Folklore Ensemble Linđo was founded in Dubrovnik in 1965 and since then it has persisted in the singularity of its mission: to preserve and celebrate the invaluable cultural heritage of the Dubrovnik region of Croatia.  Its accomplishments over the last forty years have undoubtedly emerged as high points of Croatia's cultural life and have contributed to the Ensemble's international recognition.

After it was founded in 2000 as a part of The Folklore Ensemble Linđo, Klapa Fa Linđo quickly distinguished itself at a number of prestigious festivals at home and abroad.  In 2002 it won the Golden Token Award in the category of female folklore groups at the Verona Festival of Choral Singing in Italy.  In 2003 and 2004, the Linđo singers made the finals at the Festival of the Dalmatian Klapas in Omis where they won the esteemed Audience Choice Award.

The young women who make up Klapa Fa Linđo participate in its performances both as dancers and singers.  Their vocal repertory consists of autochthonous Dalmatian folk tunes as well as of the more recently composed a cappella pieces.

By Nenad N. Bach | Published 07/6/2005 | Business | Unrated

Ideja i program vrijedan pohvale i paznje, praksa treba tek pokazati opravdanost ocekivanja.
Uslugama One stop shopa postizemo sljedece:

Mr. Zvonko Springer, citizen of Salzburg, Austria,
born in the city of Osijek in Croatia, has recently
contributed to my web site his very nice web pages

The presentation is accompanied with numerous very
good photos.

I am convinced that these web pages may be of great
use for all those who plan to spend their holidays in
Croatia. Here is the outline of the content:

It contains also additional very interesting and
important material for Croatia, in particular, the one
concerning his personal experiences on the Croatian
Way of the Cross immediately after the WW2 "ended" in
1945.

I take the opportunity to wish Mr Zvonko Springer a
very happy 80th birthday. Truly amazing how one can be
creative at that age. Also, I send my warmest regards
to his wife Mrs. Ljiljana.

Mr. Zvonko, my big FALA (Thank You).

PS. The result of my collaboration with Mr Springer is
that I can (upon his request) call him simply Zvonko.
I am very proud of this.

Bogut Ready to Begin Work With Bucks

By JAMES A. CARLSON
Associated Press Writer

June 30, 2005, 7:47 AM EDT

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. -- Now that the NBA draft is over, Andrew Bogut is ready to show the Milwaukee Bucks just what they got with the No. 1 pick.

Bogut was introduced by the Bucks on Wednesday, one day after the former Utah star was chosen with the first selection in the NBA draft. The 7-foot center is looking to get some rest, learn about his new teammates and concentrate on basketball -- a game he started playing at 11 in Australia.

"I think this is the best part. Things quiet down, and now I'll just let my game do the talking," he said.

Bogut said he's a good fit for Milwaukee, which he called a blue-collar place that fits his background in Australia. It was there that he worked his way through the youth program to the national team and became a starter for the 2004 Australian Olympic squad.

Bogut, 20, who earned college player of the year honors last season, said he's eager to get to work. He seemed to welcome the heavy expectations placed on his shoulders by the Bucks -- a team coming off its worst record (30-52) in nearly a decade.

"I really believe within the next five years you're going to look at the best center in the Eastern Conference," general manager Larry Harris said.

Harris' focus will now turn to re-signing top scorer Michael Redd and other free agents, and hiring a replacement for Terry Porter, the second-year coach who was fired last week.

When the Bucks selected Bogut on Tuesday night, the news quickly spread down to Australia.

"I heard that they stopped every television program and put on a news break about the draft, which is very special," he said. "You know, basketball is not the biggest sport in Australia so it's very special to me to have something like that. ... The country actually stopped for five minutes and they had that break. The people down there are very proud of me."

Bogut was impressed that fans in Milwaukee's Bradley Center on draft night displayed flags of Australia and of Croatia, honoring his ethnic heritage.

"You don't get that in many NBA arenas," he said. "I think the people here are very proud to have me and I'm very proud to have them."

Bogut is among the young Bucks players expected to get a taste of NBA competition during summer league play.

He said one of his priorities will be finding a home in Milwaukee with a view of Lake Michigan instead of the Southern Pacific Ocean shores of his hometown.

"I'm going to get an apartment somewhere looking at the water," he said. "I love the water. To wake up every day it would be good to see that."

Major interest for Croatian World Games

Media news conference July 13th, 2005 / Zaton Holiday Village
As our first application deadline has expired, one thing has become evident - the Croatian World Games have drawn enormous interest and attention in Croatian communities worldwide. A couple hundred applications from over twenty countries are an excellent introduction to what has to become the first "Croatian Olympics" in history.
But this is only the beginning of the story! The real promotion has to start yet. We believe there are many individuals around that have heard about the Games but didn't quite understand that they're invited themselves. In addition, there are many of those that already have the wish to participate but don't know how to enroll.
Because of these and other reasons, the organizing committee has set July 13th, 2005 as the date for the the first media conference which will take place at the Zaton Holiday Village, the same place which will act as "Olympic village" during the Games. The conference will cover the first application period and its results, the new application deadline, application possibilities apart from the internet and other issues of importance connected with the Games. At the same time the news conference will serve as project presentation for the domestic public.
Apart from our hosts, invitations for the news conference have gone out to all Games patrons and co-patrons (Government of Rep. Croatia, City of Zadar, Zadar County, the Archbishopric of Zadar, the Croatian Heritage Foundation, Croatian Olympic Committee). A number of sport celebrities are also expected to make a presence at the conference.
Detailed information about the news conference you will find soon on our official website www.zadar2006.com .
