» Croatian Men's National Water Polo team reclaims World Champions title

The Croatian men's Water Polo team beat Hungary 8-6 in the finals of the 2017 FINA Water Polo championships on Saturday July 29th. It was the first time since 2007 that the Croatian Men's Water Polo team have won the championship. There will be a celebration for the world champion Croatian water polo team on Ban Jelacic Square in Zagreb on Sunday July 30, 2017 starting at 6:00 p.m.

Congratulations to Croatian Americans Bill Belichick and Rob Ninkovich, and the New England Patriots on their amazing come-from-behind 5th Super Bowl victory against the Atlanta Falcons in Superbowl 51, played in Houston Texas. Croatian army officer Josip Glasnovic won Croatia's first gold of the 2016 Olympics in the trap-shooting, beating Italy's Giovanni Pellielo in a four-shot sudden death shootoff. Edward Ling of Great Britain took home bronze. Glasnovic, a 33-year-old who also competed in Beijing in 2008, hit a perfect 15 of 15 in the semi-final but missed two in the final. Croatian American Brenda Brkusic (left) won her 5th and 6th Emmy Awards  at the Television Academy's LA Area Emmy Awards held on July 23, 2016.  She was recognized as Executive Producer of "Variety Studio: Actors on Actors" and "China's Challenges: Can China Be Harmonious?" Last year she took home an Emmy for Producing "Mia: A Dancer's Journey" a film about Croatian-born ballerina Mia Corak Slavenska.

Marko Bilic (left) won the 2015 Cigar Trophy Ambassador Award. It is awarded by Cigar Journal magazine and celebrates outstanding performances of cigar manufacturers and individuals in the cigar industry. It was first awarded in 1998 and winners were chosen in online voting. Marko is the founder of the Cigar Smoking World Championship, which is held annually at Club Mareva in Split, Croatia.
