(E) MARASKA 5 centuries of tradition and world reputation

5 centuries of tradition and world reputation This is not only a slogan, this is an experience carried over the centuries into MARASKA ZADAR, the house which continues the famous liqueur tradition of the ancient city Zadar. MARASKA products have the name known all over the world, while the confidence of the consumer is obtained by high and stable quality of its products based on the experience which has been brought through the centuries. Maraska has improved its range of liqueurs, strong drinks, fruit syrups and juices In peace and quietness of Zadar Dominican monastery, at the beginning of 16th century, the recipe of authentic Zadar liqueur was made and noted, liqueur which for the first time was prepared just by the apothecaries of the Dominican monastery.Special and full flavoured liqueur was known under the name of “ROSOLJ” (which came from the word “ros solis”- “the sun dew”). Later on, this liqueur was named MARASCHINO, as it was produced from the essence of ripe fruits of Dalmatian cherry marasca as well as from the leaves of its sprigs. In 18th century when at Zadar started the industrial production of liqueurs, Maraschino set out from Zadar and “sailed” into every more important European ports and metropolis.
On the way Maraschino "sailed away" from Zadar and spread over the world, a very long time ago Prunus Cerarus Marasca sailed from Middle Asia to Zadar. Prunus Cararus Marasca - a noble plant with beautiful flower and rich fruits - our Dalmatian cherry marasca. It became attached to Dalmatian Karst, and in its sun and red soil "crljenica" marasca found the source of its vigour. It successfully thrives on the territory of Northern and Middle Dalmatia, from Zadar to Makarska, mainly in the continental regions and partly on the Dalmatian islands too.
Thanks to the mild Mediterranean clime and to the specific kind of soil, cherry marasca reached the best quality. Fresh or manufactured, cherry marasca has different roles: as food, as prevention, protection and as medicine for human organism. As raw material, cherry marasca is "worth a gold" for the liqueur industry. So at MARASKA - ZADAR, the fruits of cherry marasca together with stone and leaf are used for the production of liqueurs (Maraschino, Cherry Brandy, Half), strong drinks (Kirsch, Mare), desert wines (Cherrica), fruit syrups (Amarena), and fruit juices (Maraška). Besides minerals, vitamins and proteins, marasca fruits are rich in aromatic substances, amino acids, sugar and colours.
Hence, it can be said with good reason MARASKA - Sun in each drop!

Organizator igara, Hrvatski svjetski kongres vec je najavio mocna pokroviteljstva Vlade Republike Hrvatske, Grada Zadra, Zupanije zadarske, Nadbiskupije zadarske, Hrvatske matice iseljenika i supokroviteljstva Hrvatskoga olimpijskog odbora. Postoje cetiri razlicite kategorije za sudjelovanje: sportasi, suci, predstavnici i volonteri. Bitno je procitati pravila sudjelovanja prije same prijave.

(E) Frank Radosevic Veteran headhunter not slowing down
Frank Radosevic a Veteran headhunter not slowing down
"the quality remains long after the price is forgotten." Photo: Diana Casanova/The Daily Transcript
Veteran headhunter not slowing down By MICHAEL BUCHANAN, The Daily Transcript Friday, February 18, 2005 After 35 years in the business, Frank Radosevic is considered the most senior executive search consultant in the United States. As president and founder of the local headhunting firm Radosevic Associates, Radosevic has placed countless executives with companies specializing in consumer electronics, telecommunications, biotechnology and various other industries. Last September, at the annual Executive Search Summit in New York, Radosevic was named the most senior retainer executive search consultant in the United States. Sitting in his home office in Carmel Valley, the 72-year-old native of Croatia said he has no plans to retire any time soon.
"I believe in what I'm doing," Radosevic said. "There is no more important job." Radosevic wasn't always a headhunter. He spent his early years studying engineering and living in various countries as a political exile during turbulent times in Europe. Consequently, he received engineering degrees from three different universities in Croatia, Austria and Germany. In 1962, he came to the United States as part of an immigration program sponsored by the United States government. Radosevic jokes about being the ideal candidate for the program. "I was single, educated and healthy," Radosevic said. "I was the perfect European slave." Slave or not, Rados evic soon found engineering work. He designed vacuum furnaces for Hevi-Duty Heat Treating Co. and later moved on to become vice president of engineering and operations for Hughes Aircraft Co. in the late 1960s. While working for Hughes, Radosevic was often asked his opinion of engineers who applied for work there. This led to Radosevic's career as a headhunter. Back then, there wasn't really a headhunting field. "Even today, the U.S. Labor Department does not have a classification number for it," Radosevic said. In 1970, he went to work for San Diego-based VIP Employment Agency as director of the "high-tech" department. Back then terms such as "retainer," "compensation package" and "severance pay" were either rare or unheard of. Radosevic developed his own, patented methods for headhunting. One such method involved having his corporate clients write out an extensive "search position profile" for a job opening to spell out a company profile, employment conditions, ideal candidates and other key aspects of the job. A typical profile could be eight pages long for a vice president and nearly 30 pages long for a president. On the flip side, he also came up with a profile for job candidates that included everything from extensive references to what mistakes the person has learned from on the job. Radosevic recalled one experience where he asked his client why they chose to hire someone who had completed one of Radosevic's profiles. The head of the company told him, "Because I made the same mistakes," Radosevic said. Radosevic started his own firm in 1979. In the beginning, he worked with companies involved in high technology and nuclear and military electronics because those were the driving industries in San Diego. Since then, not only have more industries arrived, old industries have branched out, he said. For example, what used to be called the "medical industry," is now divided into bioinformatics, diagnostics, drug discovery instrumentation and software, biomedical and so on. This poses challenges for headhunters, who have to stay on top of all those industries to do the job, Radosevic said. "Our job is to understand and differentiate," Radosevic said. "A competent headhunter is not particularly an expert in any one of those fields; his or her expertise is understanding the industry." Having placed people in jobs worldwide, Radosevic said San Diego poses another unique problem: the high cost of living. "San Diego, a city of 3 million people, is considered one of the most expensive areas regarding the cost of affordable housing," Radosevic said. "It is essential to consider that aspect of relocation when recruiting people from other areas." According to Radosevic, people should look for the same things in a headhunter as they do a financial planner: knowledge, experience, familiarity, trust and confidentiality. While he finds it difficult to define his job, he applies the old saying, "if you're in the business long enough, then you know the ropes." "The end of the rope is not when the candidate is hired," Radosevic said. "It's when the guarantee is up and beyond, in order to create the repeatable business." In his office, Radosevic keeps the first three dollars he made as a consultant in a frame on one wall. He also has a statue of Santa Claus on his desk to remind him "to always give something," and a picture on one wall bearing his firm's motto, "the quality remains long after the price is forgotten."

(E) A person with a conviction IS A MAJORITY
A person with a conviction IS A MAJORITY
Yesterday's newspaper is used primarily to wrap today's fish with it
Hi, you all,
Mr. Marko Mijat has made the proper suggestion. The only correct answer to any erroneous info should be given by official representatives of the Croatian government, which has credibility and power to do good and responsibility to prevent harm. Ergo, whatever is discovered ought to be brought immediately to their attention.
Even God cannot change History (only historians do), so why spend the valuable energy on the "last year snows". Most Americans do not know nothing about Croatia, and even less about Jasenovac and many other historical events connected to Croatia. If people, you know, respect you personally, they will believe your version of the historical detail, trust me on that.
Some among us developed theory that "Croats are just not liked in the world (contrary to Serbs for example)". This is patently wrong notion which just reinforces legendary "Croatian inferiority complex". It is more likely that the other Countries do not CARE about us, until we prove that we could be a powerful ally to them. (Remember how Churchill conveniently discarded Draza Mihajlovic in favor of Tito in 1943?). Kako nas narod kaze: "Ko je jaci, taj kvaci!
Being alert to media is a wise strategy however one must keep in mind the old maxim: "Do not argue with the person who buys the ink by the barrel". Furthermore, yesterday's newspaper is used primarily to wrap today's fish with it.
Those of us who care about Croatia's future, should focus their scarce energies to our FUTURE and not constantly dwell on our past. We, all together, do represent quite a formidable force, (if we were just smart enough to get organized). It is very romantic to act like a "Caballero De La Triste Figura", but it is so damn inefficient.
Do not worry if there are only few of us. A person with a conviction IS A MAJORITY! Lech Walesa stated that in two decades, when fighting Communism, he was able to attract only 10 people to his Movement. Within a year of the visit of the Pope to Poland, his Solidarnosc grew to 10 million people. Croatia needs a similarly charismatic "Karol Wojtila" and s/he is somewhere, I am convinced of that, waiting for the right time.
Be well, do good job and stay in touch!

Postovani Urednice, Vas clanak o Stepincu gospodina Marovica, govori o puno stvari.

(E) Artists from Croatia and Africa Create Images Based on Neckwear
"The Challenge of the Tie: Artists from Croatia and Africa Create Images Based on Neckwear" 2005-04-17 until 2005-04-28 gordart Gallery Johannesburg, , ZA South Africa
The Republic of Croatia is launching the third leg of its international art exhibition The Challenge of the Tie in South Africa during April. The Challenge of the Tie is part of a cultural journey that serves to promote cultural linkages between Croatia and other states while at the same time promoting one of the most famous Croatian symbols, the tie, which originated in Croatia. The project is the integral part of the existing Cultural Cooperation Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of South Africa.
The tie is the dominant theme of an art collection that was launched at the Eduardo Villa Museum at the University of Pretoria on 6th April by H.E. Dr M. Zupanic, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to South Africa. The exhibition travels to the gordart Gallery, 78 3rd Street, Melville, Johannesburg, from 17 to 28 April.
The art exhibition, that features unique works of art with the tie as the central theme, will travel to cultural centers in at least 20 countries around the globe over the next few years and the exhibits by African artists from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Kenya, Botswana and Nigeria, along with more than 60 artists from Croatia will thus continue to receive enormous international exposure.
The South African leg of the exhibition provides a demonstration of the Croatian cultural bridge between the tie, as an original Croatian creation and African art, the motifs of which appear on a special range of Croatia ties designed and manufactured specifically for the South African leg of the cultural journey.
