NFCA to discuss recent events in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

“18th Annual Convention of the National Federation of Croatian Americans Cultural Foundation Convention and Wine Tasting Events to Take Place June 4, 2011, in Pittsburgh”

For Immediate Release

The 18th Annual Convention of the National Federation of Croatian Americans Cultural Foundation (NFCA) will take place in Pittsburgh on June 4, 2011 at the Clarion Hotel in Greentree, located just outside of Pittsburgh.  Delegates from throughout the United States are expected to attend and will discuss a wide range of issues, including the recent convictions of General Gotovina and Mladen Markac, the status of Croats in Bosnia and Hercegovina, and furthering links between the United States and Croatia.

The Convention’s activities will be preceded on Friday evening, June 3, 2011, by a special visit to St. Nicholas Croatian Church in Millvale where Convention Delegates and their guests will have an opportunity to view the murals of Max Vanko which feature scenes from Croatian life in the homeland and in America in the 1930s.  Delegates and their guests will also participate in a private wine tasting social of Croatian wines at the NFCA’s Hospitality Suite at the Clarion Hotel that night.

The Convention will open with a Delegates-only meeting on Saturday morning, June 4, 2011, at the Clarion Hotel located at 401 Holiday Drive, Greentree-Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  That afternoon after 1:00 pm, the Convention will open its doors to the public when we will hear from a number of speakers about Croatian American issues.  That Saturday evening the Delegates will attend a Wine Tasting Event fund raiser at Peter Karlovich’s home on Mt. Washington, which is open to the public and discussed in another article in the Zajednicar.

Delegates are eligible for a special discount hotel rate at the Clarion.  Reservations can be made by calling 412-922-8100 and asking for the NFCA Cultural Foundation rate.  Please note that the special rate is only good for until May 20, 2011. This hotel is a short 15 minutes from the Pittsburgh International Airport.

If you are interested in attending as a Delegate - or if you would like more information concerning the NFCA - please contact Zvonko Labas at zvonkolabas@yahoo.com or by calling the Washington offices of the NFCA at 301-208-6650.  The mailing address for the NFCA is 2401 Research Blvd, Rockville, MD 20850.
