Vladimir Hudolin distinguished Croatian psychiatrist and humanist

Vladimir Hudolin, 1922-1996, is distinguished Croatian psychiastrist of worldwide reputation, professor at the University of Zagreb. He has created the social-ecological approach to alcohol related problems centred on the family and on the community. In Italy only more than 2500 Clubs of Alcoholics have been founded which exploit his methodology. Professor Hudolin is a honorary citizen of San Daniele del Friuli, Italy, since 1983.

Anton Cetin distinguished Croatian painter in Canada

Anton Cetín was born in 1936 in Croatia. He studied printmaking and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Since 1968 he has been living and working in Toronto, Canada. A deluxe monograph about his work was written in 1986. by Dr. David Burnett of Toronto. Several documentary films about Cetín's life and work were produced.

Dalia Lazar is Croatian pianist who had concerts and recitals in the United States, Israel, Russia, Switzerland, Greece, Venezuela, Croatia, Mexico, etc. At the age of sixteen she was admitted to Moscow's P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory. She has perfomed throughout former Soviet Union. She will perform a recital in memory of Maria Curcio on Wednesday, January 27th 2010 at 7:30 pm at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Robert Herjavec Croatian-born Canadian entrepreneur, businessman and TV star

Herjavec began his career with IBM mainframe sales but in 1990 founded BRAK Systems which soon became Canada's top provider of Internet security software. BRAK Systems was sold to AT&T in 2000 for $100 million. Subsequently Herjavec founded and runs The Herjavec Group, a fast-growing security software company.

Ivo Josipovic, Croatia’s new president, to write an opera on John Lennon

Croatia’s new president, Ivo Josipovic, who won in a runoff on Sunday, is a bona fide classical composer. He majored in composition at the Zagreb Music Academy, graduating in 1983. From 1987-2004 he was a lecturer at the same school. Since 1991, he has been director of the Zagreb Music Biennale, one of the more prestigious contemporary music festivals.

Vrijeme i Zemlja frontman Nenad Bach to release EP later this year

Zoran Tuckar of Muzika.hr called Vrijeme i Zemlja "the most talented Croatian band of all time." In his last statements before he died, famed Croatian music critic, Darko Glavan said regarding Vrijeme i Zemlja that it was "a project that essentially expanded the boundaries of the possible." This year Vrijeme i Zemlja's frontman and the Nenad Bach Band will release an EP featuring all new material.
