» Valentina Šuljić exhibition in Slovenia

Valentina Šuljić is young Croatian artist, whose work includes different fields of artistic expressions. Her works include paintings, sculptures, graphic design, photography and urban installations. Her work will be on exhibit at Galerija Schwarz in Ljubljana Slovenia, from February 6 to April 4, 2008.

The film "L... Like Love" was co-written by Jelena Vukotić (left) and opened at the Rotterdam Film Festival in January, to a sold out crowd and received rave reviews.

Probably the most famous Croatian professor worldwide is Professor Balthazar, a well known figure from Croatian cartoon movie series initiated in 1967 by late Zlatko Grgić. This was the most successful project of Zagreb Film ever. His popularity is amazing even today, especially in Scandinavian countries, but also in Iran for example!

Ana Mihanović, mezzo-soprano, has been a featured soloist with the Southwest Symphony, American West Symphony, Legacy Chorale and Utah Philharmonic. She will be performing a collection of folk songs on Saturday, February 9th, 2008, starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Manhattan School of Music.

After 35 years, Petar Brajković (left) will be returning to Croatia to open a showing of his work at Galerija Oblok in Sesvete.  His show will start on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

Antonio Janigro, a famous Croatian-Italian cellist, was the founder and conductor of the Zagreb Soloists from 1954 to 1967. Winner of the 2008 international competition in Zagreb, held in Janigro's honour, is David Eggert, Canada, the 2nd prize went to Tian Bonian, China, and the 3rd prize to Dmitri Prokofiev, Russia.

Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Japan Dr. Drago Štambuk inaugurated in the Turkish Cultural Centre in Tokyo the opening of the exhibition of Turkish artist in marble technique Nilüfer Tütüncü dedicated to Jalaluddin Rumi. He also gave an interview to the Turkish national television.

It is surprising to hear that a young woman who describes herself as being both close to her family and an introvert moved across the Atlantic Ocean on her own at 20 to become a performer. Ana Vidović is far from her native Croatia, but feels at home wherever she is when she has her trusted guitar along.

The town of Rijeka has been known for its carnival festivities since the Middle Ages. Austrian and Hungarian aristocracy, Russian princesses, German barons, counts and countesses from all over Europe were once the guests of the Rijeka Carnival. Starting February 1, 2008, revelers will take to the streets and celebrate Carnival.
