Boris Ljubičić was born in 1945 in Sinj (Croatia). In 1968, he graduated in the art of painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. During his studies, and later, he has taken part in a number of professional tours and skill improvement programmes in Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Japan and The Netherlands. Boris Ljubičić lives and works in Zagreb at the STUDIO INTERNATIONAL in Buconjićeva street 43, Croatia. E-mail: boris@studio-international.com Since 1970, Boris Ljubičić has dedicated his work to visual research in graphic design and visual communications. His radical works, adapted to some extent after several years, have been extensively used in Croatia and abroad. The first project was the visual identity of the VIII Mediterranean Games in Split in 1979, whose sign and flag have become a permanent standard of all sports games of Mediterranean countries. His striving for absolute solutions and broad applications is characterised by a civilisational and educational shift into the future. Many of these works received international awards, recognitions and exhibitions in: Amsterdam, Berlin, Brno, Celje, Chaumount, Chile, Cincinatty, Crikvenica, Čakovec, Dublin, Dubrovnik, Essen, Ferara, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Kiew, Kobenhaven, Lahti, Le Mons, Lisabon, Ljubljana, Los Angeles, Mexico, Milan, Munich, New York, Osaka, Osijek, Opatija, Paris, Portorož, Pula, Rijeka, Split, Stuttgart, Taipei, Tel Aviv, Tokio, Toyama, Vancouver, Varaždin, Washington, Warszava, Zagreb. Since 1990. his most important project is visual identity of the Republic of Croatia. STUDIO INTERNATIONAL has been founded by Boris Ljubicic in 1988, in Zagrebu (Croatia). The Studio is registered for visual communications, graphic and product design, publishing and the media realisation. The main activity of the Studio is Corporate identity, TV design and product design. Our efforts to keep up to the international standards in design have resulted in many international awards and quotations in some of the most prestigious publications worldwide. One of our favourite and most challenging projects is designing the visual identity this new and relatively unknown country: the Republic of Croatia.
