Croatia winning 2018 Davis Cup against France - in France!

| Croatia has won the 2018 Davis Cup title by beating France - in France! With crucial wins of Marin Èiliæ and Borna Æoriæ (on the photo), it is the second Davis Cup title for Croatia in history, after 2005, when Croatia won in a match with a very strong team of the USA - in the USA! This event has closed a year which was historic for Croatia, also due to amazing success of national football team, by winning the second place at the World Championship organized in the Russian Federation.

Nenad Zvonarek former selector of Chinese handball representation
 | Nenad Zvonarek was selector of the Chinese handball representation. He was active in China since 1997, directing the handball team of the Province of Jiangsu (population of nearly 80 million people, a leading Chinese province in finance, education, technology and tourism). Nenad Zvonarek, professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb, received a Medal of Friendship from the Governement of the Province of Jingsu in China in 2016. He is a honorary citizen of the city of Suzhu, China.

Steve Novosel Croatian-American jazz bassist and educator
 | Steven (Steve) Novosel is an American professional jazz bassist and educator whose 40-plus year career has spanned numerous genre, from traditional jazz to swing, bebop, mainstream and avant garde. Born in Farrell in 1940, Pennsylvania outside Pittsburgh in 1940, Novosel is of Croatian-American heritage. Although left-handed, Novosel mastered the double bass playing it in a right-hand set up. |

Japanese-Croatian Friendship House in Tokamachi emits a permanent light
 | Croatian Ambassador to Japan Dr. Drago ©tambuk initiated in 2006 the construction of a Japanese - Croatian Friendship House. It was designed in 2009-2010 and its opening ceremony was held in 2012 in the city of Tokamachi. the facility was designed by the Croatian architectural tandem Vinko Peneziæ and Kre¹imir Rogina. Guided by the common cultural heritage and symbols of both countries, a project of high architectural and symbolic value was achieved. Ante Glibota delivered a lecture at UNESCO, Paris 2018, on the occasion of 100 years since the First WW
 | Ante Glibota, distinguished Croatian scholar, delivered a lecture at the International Conference "Hundred Years Since the First World War" organized in Paris by UNESCO, 21st September 2018. His lecture, delivered in French, was entitled "The Causes of the First World War and Its Impact on the International Relations in the 20th Century". Mr. Glibota is one of three vicepresidents of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Lettres, situated in Paris. He is the curator of the Museum of Art and Urbanity in Shanghai, China.

World Cravat Day 18th October - the origin of the CRAVAT and of its universally known name is Croatia
 | CRAVAT, the universaly known name of the necktie, has its origin in the name ov Croats. As an unavoidable fashion element, especially for representative pruposes, it can be met in the remotest parts of the Globe. It is without any doubt the most widespread fashion element in the world, bearing a national name. On the photo on the left is Ivan Gundulic (1589-1638), distinguished Croatian Renaissance writer from Dubrovnik, bearing the earliest known version of the Cravat. World Cravat Day, established by Academia Cravatica in Zagreb, is celebrated each year on 18th October.
