-----------

Vec smo dva dana okovani snijegom i ledom. Treci puta u 23 godine nasega boravka u Veprincu, zaselak Falalelici. Na 245 metara nadmorske visine . Sve je u bijelom ogrtacu: jele, cempresi, ogoljeli orah, smokve, jabuke, dunje i breskve. Naravno i palme kao i bambusi koji, drhcucici i trepereci pored raskosnih smreka potvrdjuju svoju njeznost i izazivaju jednako osjecaj samilosti kao i divljenja.

Nebo sivo, more sivo, niski oblaci prekrili otoke Cres, Krk i Losinj. Mozemo to nazvati i velom. Cini se da ce jos snijeziti.

Uz pozdrav,

After waiting out the Balkan conflict in Germany, Mirjana returns unmarried and pregnant to her war-torn village in Croatia. Plans by her shocked parents to marry her off hurriedly are derailed when the birth brings an even more unwelcome surprise -- a bundle of joy with Asian features. Mirjana’s not talking, but everyone else is, in this satire on xenophobia with obvious parallels that, director Svilicic dryly notes, are rooted in 'far smaller ethnic differences.' A critically acclaimed selection of the Berlin, Vancouver, and Warsaw international film festivals.

Looking for a bone marrow match - please read

Please feel free to email Iva Turudic at ivaturudic@hotmail.com  with any questions.

Jakov and Nevenka Turudic of London, Ontario, along with the
Jezerinac family of Mississauga, Ontario, is reaching out to the
Croatian community at a time of great need for Robert Jezerinac,
who is engaged to Iva Turudic, daughter of Jakov and Nevenka Turudic. Robert has
Leukemia and will need a bone marrow transplant in order to have a fighting chance
to beat his cancer. His doctor has suggested that his best chance at finding a bone
marrow match may be among those of the same ethnic background.
Many people have asked if a private clinic will be held to test people
as a possible match for Robert. Unfortunately, these types of clinics are no
longer done in Canada as they were years earlier. Some people may have been
tested previously, however, they may not be on the registry. We ask those people
who have participated in a bone marrow drive in years past to contact Canadian
Blood Services to ensure that they are still on the registry.
You can contact Canadian Blood Services at 1-888-2-DONATE
(236-6283) or you can register directly online at
http://www.bloodservices.ca  (click on “Join the Bone Marrow Registryâ€?) or if
you live in the U.S. please visit the American Bone Marrow Donor
Registry at http://www.abmdr.org
It will cost you nothing and it only takes a few moments of your time
by getting your blood tested. This could potentially save Robert’s life, and
give him and his fiancé, Iva Turudic, the chance to marry and live the life they’ve
dreamed of together. If you are between the ages of 17-50 please register as a
Bone Marrow Donor. We are asking our Croatian community to come together in this time
of need. This could be your opportunity to save a person’s life. Please
show Rob, his family, and the Turudic family your support by taking the time to
register. This could happen to any of us and only by the generous and selfless
support of others can Rob have a chance at life.
If you have any questions in regards to becoming a Bone Marrow Donor, please
contact Canadian Blood Services, the American Bone Marrow Donor Registry or
e-mail Iva Turudic at: ivaturudic@hotmail.com
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

Thank you,

Marija Pavic

» (E) Ucim hrvatski jezik, ali jos govorim malo, Cete li pomoci mene?
By Nenad N. Bach | Published 01/26/2006 | Classifieds | Unrated

Ucim hrvatski jezik, ali jos govorim malo, Cete li pomoci mene?

Zdravo,

I am an American writer and musician coming to Croatia in spring to research
a book about Dalmatian life (I will be mainly in Peljesac for this). Beyond
that, I hope to eventually make my home in Croatia. I've grown weary of
American life and want to live where there is history,
culture, architecture and natural beauty surrounding me at all times.

Mainly, I just wanted to say 'hello' to this group in this post, but also to
let Croatian artists, musicians, writers, photographers and other creative
types that I would like to meet you when I'm in your country. I'll be
dividing my time between Dalmatia, Zagreb and Budapest until I can find a
permanent home and establish Croatian residence. As for my writing, I seek
to promote Croatian art, music, cuisine and tourism through a variety of
articles to be published on
my website, in English-language print publications, and in my own book
projects. I've grown fond of every Croatian I've met in my hometown, and I
can't wait to be in the country itself, surrounded by the culture.

Musicians, artists, photographers: There's a chance I'll want to write about
you and your work - or even collaborate on projects - so get in touch with
me.

Ucim hrvatski jezik, ali jos govorim malo. Trebam prakticirati! Cete
li pomoci mene?

I look forward to being in your beautiful country and hearing from
you. Poslam prijateljstvo...
