New York City - A new CD, Music of Božidar Kunc, performed by his daughter Soprano, Ivana Kunc, has been recorded featuring Božidar's best twenty vocal pieces. Croatian opera lovers are already familiar with
Čežnja or
Longing, widely sung and recorded by his world famous sister, Zinka Kunc Milanov.
Of the nine children in Kunc Croatian family, only Zinka and Božidar (1903- 1964) lived to adulthood. A composer, Božidar also became the accompanist and coach who guided his younger sister musically until the day he died.
Ivana, a lyric soprano, with a lighter, smoothly flowing voice sings with a high-pitched soaring her mothers,
DeElda's Love Songs, revealing family musical partnership with
In The Beginning, A Valentine, Rebirth, Oneness, The Kiss Left Behind, For Soul and Body and After the Crossing.
In addition, a piano solo is included dedicated
For Ivana Joy, as well as outstanding
Anniversary Prayer, Zinka's Flower, The Lamp, A Little Sentiment, Double Devotion, The Arrow, The World Is Empty, The Daffodils, She, and vocalize, Notturnino.
Ivana has performed with numerous opera companies including Opera Northeast, Amato Opera, and Brooklyn Lyric Opera. She has sung the roles of Mimi in La Boheme, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Antonia in Tales of Hoffmann, and Juliette in Romeo. Ms. Kunc has performed solo recitals throughout the Tri-State area with material ranging from classical art songs to Broadway musical favorites.
Accompanied by Daniel Ragone on piano, Ms. Kunc is currently preparing an all Gershwin concert. A Native New Yorker, animal rights activist and vegetarian, Ivana now resides in New Jersey with her husband, guitarist Monroe Quinn, and their two cats.
