Thursday, December 14th at 7:00 pm at the Two Boots Pioneer Theatre.
A Q&A with the director will take place after the screening.

The Doors Art Foundation is proud to present monthly screenings featuring a selection of films from the Croatian cinema of the last decade. This unique project is a result of a creative collaboration between The Doors Art Foundation, The Doors Art Udruga, the Croatian film critic Jurica Pavicic and the featured Croatian filmmakers.
I Love You
Synopsis:
Kreso has it all - youth, money and a gorgeous successful girlfriend. His job is the dream job of all Croats that have grown up in the era of new capitalism - he is a copywriter in a marketing agency. At the same time, Kreso also has nothing. He and his girlfriend are weighed down by work and they do not spend enough time with each other, while his friends, a once innocent group of high school students, are now a bunch of useless dudes in frenzied search of loose women, alcohol and drugs. One day, after having committed a drunk-driving accident that had lead to one womans death, and after receiving a blood transfusion, Kreso finds out that he is HIV- infected. His life changes overnight. His girlfriend leaves him, he is fired from his job and his friends abandon him. Kreso is left all alone and begins to take revenge.

- "I Love You" won in 53rd Pula Film Festival, Croatia
- Branko Linta received Golden Arena for best photography and KODAK award for best photography. Tomislav Pavlic received Golden Arena for best editing.
- I Love You won the Cinema tout Ecran young jury award on Cinema tout Ecran festival in Geneve. This is first international award for I LOVE U, and second time that young jury award has been won, previously FINE DEAD GIRLS were awarded.
- Kreso Mikic is nominated for Croatian association of dramatic artists award for I Love You.

DALIBOR MATANIĆ
Born 21.01.1975. in Zagreb, Croatia
Father Tomo, building engineer, mother Ana shopkeeper
(20 years cashier, now boss in supermarket).
1993. he entered film and tv directing at Academy of drama arts in Zagreb.
He worked as an assistant director on films of Zrinko Ogresta and Zoran Tadic.
In time of '96 - '00 made many awarded documentaries ("Derby", "Bag",
"Good luck", "When our music roars"), short film "Silence",
awarded film-festival trailers, commercials and videos&
2000. made his first feature "The Cashier wants to go to the seaside"
which gave him an award for best Croatian newcomer director,
best actress and supporting actress awards, best debut prize in Cottbus, Germany,
best actress award in Sochi, Russia. Film also opened New directors/New films festival
in New York and had best box-office results in Croatia and later on best result on Croatian television that season.
2002. made "Drought", first of the six short films about intimacy of six girls worldwide.
Six film will make an omnibus called "6/6".
"Drought" won a prize for best short film in Croatia in 2002. and special KODAK award..
This summer will be finished second feature "Fine dead girls".
He made it in screenplay-collaboration with Mate Matisic.
Film Deals with suffocated lives of Zagreb's citizens today, lack of freedom of act,
intolerance in post-communism country as Croatia is.
Parallel with releasing of "Fine dead girls", he is preparing a film about life of
Croatian def-mute woman painter Slava Raškaj together with screenplay writer Koraljka Mestrovic.
He makes films with his team:

He adores actors and thinks they are the greatest weapon director has.
He adores audience (not masses) and thinks that man should never ignore it.
He adores people and on one hand he will always point out humanism, and on the other hand will point out people's mistakes and deviations of somebody's character.
He considers film as a final, highest art that combines all other arts.
