US Census 2010 IMPORTANT for Croatian American families
By Nenad N. Bach | Published  03/22/2010 | Community | Unrated
What is Census?

The U.S. Census counts every resident in the United States, and is required by the Constitution to take place every 10 years.
The 2010 Census will help communities receive more than $400 billion in federal funds each year for things like:

    * Hospitals
    * Job training centers
    * Schools
    * Senior centers
    * Bridges, tunnels and other-public works projects
    * Emergency services

I have not seen any brochure, any instructions form consulate or embassy to help Croatian American families on how to fill the US Census 2010. Every 10 years we have Census here in the United States of America. There is no obvious way to understand where to put your heritage. Proper census guaranties many benefits to follow for the community in general. So I posted a detailed sample of the question 9 of the Census. There are 2-3 million Croatian Americans, but when we count the census, not even close. So, take your pen and fill it properly.

    If only I would have thought of it I would have indicated so (Croatian American) but I always thought of whenever it was asked of me what Race I am it was always White. I hope now with your input other Croatians will respond listed as "Croatian American". Thank you Mr. Bach for your attention to this critical and important matter.

    LOL!!! I did EXACTLY what you requested, and had not even seen this until today 06/21/10. I filled this out in March, and told all of my Croatian friends to do the same. I hope the word got across and others did the same thing I did.
