2008 CABA LAW STUDENT ESSAY COMPETITION
Topic: What problems exist with the Croatian legal system?
How can it be improved?
EligibilityThe competition is open to all students currently enrolled in law school (worldwide). The essay must be the student’s original, unpublished work.
FormatThe essay must not exceed 12 pages (8 ˝ x 11 inch paper), including title, citations, and any footnotes (do not use endnotes). The text of the essay must be double-spaced, with twelve-point font and one-inch margins. Essays may be submitted in English or Croatian.
Entry ProcedureSubmissions must be emailed to
essay@croatianamericanbar.com no later than October 31, 2008. Each submission must include a cover page (not included in page count) with the entrant’s name, law school, year of study, mailing and email addresses, and phone number. Do not include your name or any other identifying markings on any other page of your submission.
By submitting an essay in this contest, the entrant grants the CABA permission to edit and publish the essay.
JudgingThe essays will be evaluated by a committee of CABA members on the following criteria: clarity of the analysis; quality of the analysis and research; quality of writing, including organization, grammar, syntax, and form. Neither the contestant’s identity nor his/her academic institution will be known to the committee.
AwardThe winner will receive a $300 cash prize. At the discretion of the CABA, the winning entry may be selected for publication, subject to editing.
The winner will be announced in November 2008.
