Oakland Int'l FF: BEYOND THE CALL screening this Friday, Sept. 22, 6pm at the Grand Lake Theater
Hello Bay Area Friends,
I am excited to announce and invite you and your friends to a screening of BEYOND THE CALL in the beautiful Grand Lake Theater in Oakland (http://cinematreasures.org/theater/414/) as part of the Oakland International Film Festival (http://oaklandfilmsociety.org). The only screening is this Friday, September 22 at 6pm. It is a beautiful venue to introduce the film to friends, family, colleagues and potential supporters. We are gathering to enjoy the film and the adventure. If some are moved to help raise funds or contribute to the transfer of the movie to 35mm film, as we did with GENGHIS BLUES ( www.genghisblues.com), to do a theatrical release this Fall and take it around the world, that would be a bonus. If you or you know potential interested people to help with the transfer to 35mm film, I am happy to give you more info. That said, come for the adventure and stay for the Q&A. I will be there to field your questions.
BEYOND THE CALL will also screen around the Bay Area:
Wednesday, September 27th Special screening of BEYOND THE CALL at the World Affairs Council in San Francisco. Screening begins at 7pm. A United Nations Association Film Festival reception begins at 5:45pm, to be followed by the screening. More info at http://www.itsyourworld.org/program.php?page=1700
October 25 - 29th The United Nations Association film festival at Stanford University. Check http://www.unaff.org for times and location.
Synopsis: In an Indiana Jones meets Mother Teresa adventure, three middle-aged men - former soldiers and modern-day knights - travel the world delivering life-saving humanitarian aid directly into the hands of civilians and doctors. Ed Artis, James Laws and Walt Ratterman inspire through deeds not words, in some of the most dangerous yet beautiful places on Earth, the front lines of war.
"This year there are a handful of films that I want to cite simply because they embody, in one way or another, something of the spirit that gave birth to the Tribeca Film Festival... [Films] about people who know that what they do as individuals can make a difference in the world: Beyond the Call." - Peter Scarlet, Executive Director, Tribeca Film Festival
