Croatia will strengthen its armed forces with ten more Mi-171Sh helicopters

New Helicopters for Croatia
The Russian state special exporter of military engineering FSUE “Rosoboronexport” concluded the contract for delivery for Croatia Ministry of Defence 10 combat-transport Mi-171Sh helicopters of Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant production. Along with the helicopters spare parts and equipment for helicopters operation will be delivered. And it is planned to carry out training of flight and technical personnel of Ministry of Defence of Croatia.

According to information of the Russian newspaper “Commersant” the sum of bargain is evaluated approximately as 65 million USD. Delivery will be carried out on account of state debt of former USSR for Yugoslavia. All ten helicopters are planned to be delivered in 2007.

Composition of equipment of delivered for Croatia Mi-171Sh helicopters is not announced. It is only known, that the helicopters will be equipped with flight and navigation equipment of western companies production. “Sturm-V” guided missiles complex will not be installed on the helicopters.

It is not the first delivery of the Mi-171Sh helicopters to Europe. In 2005 it was completed the delivery of 16 Mi-171Sh helicopters for Ministry of Defence of Czechia. More over in 2001-2002 four civil Mi-171 helicopters, produced by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, were delivered for Slovakia police.
