The "Yediot Ahronot" Hebrew daily reports that a consortium of Israeli and foreign investors, including Adv. Amos Maimon, has purchased a 502-dunam (125.5-acre) peninsula in Croatia for NIS 500 million. The peninsula is zoned for a hospital, rehabilitation center, and a marina.

Maimon was director general of President Moshe Katsav’s office for a short period. He recently initiated the construction of 1,600 housing units in Britain and Miami. Maimon said the peninsula project would be completed within five years, and hundred of employees would be recruited for the task.

The luxury hospital will be for private neurological, ophthalmic, and gynecological surgery. A 100-house post surgical rehabilitation center will provide medical supervision, and will also include a renovated yacht anchorage. The hospital will include 42 operating theaters.

The land was rented from the Croatian government under a 99-year lease. The investment consortium plans to bring top-flight medical personnel from all over the world to visit the center to perform surgery, in order to attract wealthy European patients.
