Tvrtko Saric and Matej Grahek Flutistically Yours

Just before the Easter weekend, we had a real treat at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. A flute/guitar duo consisting of Slovenian flutist Matej Grahek and Croatian guitarist Tvrtko Saric came and gave a double master class and concert. To say that these guys were terrific is a severe understatement.
Both are top grade players in their own right, and together they were an inspiration. They played music from Slovenian and Croatian composers, as well as more standard repertoire. In addition, they were both absolutely delightful people to be around. They are interested in everything -- not just music. Their attitude toward music was that it should embrace life, instead of being a hothouse plant that requires
special pampering. They were a breath of fresh air, just in time for spring! I'd recommend any college/university, flute society or guitar society to sponsor these two musicians for further concerts. As for myself, I'm waiting for the day their CD comes out!
