Matea Jelić won the first Croatian olympic gold medal in taekwondo in history. In the finals, in a very tough fight, she defeated the British girl, Lauren Williams. Matea Jelić (of age 23, height 1.83 m) was born in 1997 in the city of Knin, a former Croatian royal city. Her achievement is one of the greatest successes in the history of Croatian sports. She is training in the city of Split, as a member of the Taekwondo Club Marjan.
