BUSIC--BUSICH
Busic
could be bus-bush, busa-to plan, or busiti-to drill. Although the Busic clan is
found in most parts of Croatia, the
areas with most numbers are Muzilovcica-Sisak, Selisce Letovanicko, Sisak,
Sveti Petar Cvrstec, Virje, Vinjani, Donji-Imotski and Zupanja in Croatia.
This
coat of arms is most interesting with two lions holding a Turk's head. This
nobility is remembered from the Turopolje Nobility and dates to 1500. Busic was
granted nobility by the Austrian Crown in 1580. The original copy is on the
file at the State Archives of Zagreb.
A
Turk's head was represented in many Croatian
Arms as nobility was gained or granted by virtue of heroism in battle
against the Turks for about four-hundred years.
