Friends,
Many of you know that I have been doing research on the history of Croatians in this part of the country for a while. My effort to gather materials on various Croatian organizations, which includes organization of all kinds in which Croatians were active, will end by the beginning of this summer. This fall, if everything goes as planned, I’ll begin writing a book on the subject. If the name of your organization or basic information about it does not appear in the book, it will be because of your lack of cooperation. My wish is to include every organization the Croatians established and/or played a role in. Therefore, I ask you to send/give me the necessary information about your organization ASAP, definitely before June 2009.
The information I am looking for could be summarized as follows:
Name of the organization; year of founding (or years in existence); names of the founders (if known); purpose; location; the most important dates in the history of the organization (dates that are worth remembering); names of presidents; an important group picture; picture of the society’s flag; picture of the building (if you have or had a building); today’s membership and main activities; names of individuals from the organization that are/were outstanding members of our American community at large, and any other information you would like to submit. Souvenir booklets are usually a good source of information. If you have such books, make a copy and mail them to me.
If you already have given me information about your organization, thanks much. If not, your help and cooperation will be greatly appreciated. By helping me to prepare this book you will ensure that the name and work of your organization will be long remembered in the future.
