Posted on September 14, 2010 4 Comments
“Day D” is finally here. Igor Deranja from Rijeka, Croatia (DOB: 15th of Dec 1981) finally decided to try “Wakeboard marathon 24h” and with this get into Guinness world of record.
To make everything by the rules he will try to ride 500 kilometers and with this he will open new category.
Start should be in Crikvenica from “Crni mol” at 11am. Than they will start their trip to Pula. When they reach there, he will need to rest a bit and than start to Poreč where he will get off the boat and get on the cable Poreč around 17 o’clock. Plan is to ride 5 hours and after this make small break and start home in direction of Ski lift Krk, where he should be around 11am. 16th of September.
To prepare for this event he was training almost a year with special food and trainings every day. It is not easy to hold for 500 kilometers for the handle and resist with your feet on the water, so we wish all the best for him and possibility to achieve one more Guinness world record for Croatia.
Trainer Krešimir Kovačević, gym Lovorika and Cetar dobre Vibracije, Ski Lift Poreč, Krk and Hip-notics, boat from Kriica d.o.o. in Crikvenica helped him a lot with trainings. Fuel costs were covered by Erste bank, PGŽ and Croatian waterski federation. To find best route Navigo system gave their equipment. O’Neill (Kruna mode) is his riding equipment sponsor. BoardForce.net is supporting PR’s. Don’t forget about mum and friends who are taking care about his nerves.
INTERVIEW WITH IGOR DERANJA:
Nelly Mance:
Hi Igor… Are you nervous at the moment?
Igor Deranja:
Nervous is really a little word for my momentary status…. all the last period from the announcing of the marathon was really bad, the waiting is really killing me and the weather conditions are getting just more disappointing….. Wind and waves and rain are just making the project more far away by every day.
Nelly Mance:
But you finally decided to start with it, when is the “day D”?
Igor Deranja:
the last Meteo news are telling me that a possible date could be the 15 of September and I really hope so, because more the time is ticking more problems I am getting. My judges are out of reach, the filming guy I can’t get on phone, the days are getting shorter and the water is getting colder… and another normal thing is that all the organization is just on me!
Nelly Mance:
So how you gonna make it finally? Who will approve your record?
Igor Deranja:
Now I am not sure of anything… I am just waiting for the next problem to come. There are a lot of open questions still without an answer, and the people around me don’t do a lot to make the things easier… I am still looking for a judge but I am really afraid that we will have to postpone it another time….
Nelly Mance:
I just hope you have plan B for this situation. So if everything will work with organization, let me know when is the start?
Igor Deranja:
I am working on it with some great people and friends!! The start is in Crikvenica from “Crni mul” at 11am, than we are going to Pula where I think I’ll do a rest and than to Poreč. I’ll get off the boat and start riding at the Ski lift Poreč about at 5pm. The ride will take about 5 hours and than after a brake we are going back. Hopefully the end will be at Cable Krk at 11am the 16 of September.
You know my motto is “The only easy day was yesterday”…… it never was more true!!!!!!!!
Nelly Mance:
I can bet, when it finish it will be true, the only easiest day gonna be day after. Trust me…
Igor Deranja:
You were right in lot of things….. hope this is one of them!!!!
Nelly Mance:
What’s the goal, how many kilometers you have to pass by Guinness rules? Do you still believe it will be possible?
Igor Deranja:
At the start they told me that there wasn’t minimum requirements, but at last they told me that even it is a new category I have to make…. 500 km!!! Which are “just” 180 km more than I thought…. As all new records this will be challenge… we will see if it is possible!!
Nelly Mance:
Only two days to see if everything will be like we expected… and than… if you succeed you gonna walk in your new O’Neill boardshorts at Hip-notics.com cable park for a week of vacations… To whom you gonna thank for all support at the moment?
Igor Deranja:
First of all to my Mom and my friends which are tolerating my nerves and helping me in all possible ways! To BoardForce, to Erste bank, the PGŽ, Navigo system, the Croatian water ski federation and of course to all the others that helped me with my trainings and the organization of the event!… Once again, cable Poreč, cable Krk, Hip-notics cable park, Kirica d.o.o., O’Neill, Lovorka gym, trainer Krešimir Kovačević i Centar dobre vibracije…
Nelly Mance:
I will live you now to get some sleep, to calm down with your nerves cuz in 4 days everything will be over and we all gonna laugh about it at our vacations… Good luck with everything and see ya soon! I just can’t wait to get info.
Igor Deranja:
Thanks Nelly….. for all you done 4 me!!
Nelly Mance:
Np dear, anytime… Good night!
