VUCETIC--VUCETICH
Vucetich
is very common in the Karlovac district and also in Slavonia. It is found in
all parts of Croatia. Vucica is a she-wolf and vucad is a young wolf. Vucetich
probably finds its root in wolf as this was very common in most European
languages.
Paul
Vucetich was granted a coat of arms on April 29, 1652. The arms are filed in
the Croatian Archives in Zagreb. Paul Vucetich was a military chieftan. A Major
Vucetich was also granted arms in 1790 and these are filed in the State
Archives in Zabreb.
Michael
Vucetich voted as an American citizen in 1871 in San Jose, California. He said
he was from Dalmatia. Nikola Vucetich married a French girl in the goldfields
of California in the 1860's, he voted as a citizen in 1879 at the age of 48.
