VOJNOVIC-VOJNOVICH

Vojnovic probably is from Vojnik or Vojna meaning soldier or battle. Vojnovic name variations include Vojinovic, Vojkovic, Vojnic, Vojskovic, Vojtek, Vojvoda and Vojvodic.

This clan had three separate arms registered. John Vojnovic was granted Arms from the old nobility  in Hercegnovi and is also registered as nobility from the Poljica Republic. Maria Teresa of Austria granted Arms to Vujna Vojnovic on March 1, 1751 in Vienna. The Fojnica Monastery in Bosnia has hand drawn Arms for this clan dating to the 1300-1400’s. Arms found later in Dalmatia did come from Bosnia-Hercegovina.

Vojnovic is a large clan with most living in Balinac, Crni Potok, Dugi Rat, Gajec, Kapelna, Lovska, Mazin, Omis, Ozegovci, Pecka and Zagreb.
