DOMINIS-----GOSPODNETICH

Dominis means Gospodnetich. Many Dominis' are found in Biograd, Sali, Split and the Island of Brac, Dalmatia, Croatia. Almost all the Gospodnetich clan came from Brac.

They originated from the clan of Simrakovich in the noble house of Krstic from Bosnia. Another branch of this Dominis clan was considered part of the ancient nobility on the island of Rab.

John Dominis was a whaling captain sailing out of Boston in the 1820's, 30's 40's who later settled in Hawaii. He was the captain of the ship Bolivar and the John Peabody. His son John O. Dominis, married a young Hawaiian girl of good family. She became the Queen Liliuokalani, last queen of Hawaii. He was also the governor of Oahu.

This Dominis-Gospodnetich clan originated in Pucisce and Dol, Island of Brac in Dalmatia and at the collapse of the Venetian Republic moved to Venice. Frank Dominis had a saloon with Kosta at Sacramento, California in 1860 while others were fisherman and into restaurants. Many Gospodnetich's were also part of pioneer America.
