BURIC---BURICH

 

 

 

Buric is found in great numbers in all parts of Croatia. Burici, Kalinovica and Molvice in the district Of Samobor have many families. The name is also found on the Island of Vis and in numbers in Split, Dalmatia, Croatia.

Buric and variations of such could mean water, stormy or leather bottle. The coat of arms has an angel, crown and feather.

Arms were granted to George Burich on February 4, 1708 in Vienna. This Burich was a Lieutenant Colonel.

In the 1800’s in San Francisco, California George Burich had an Oyster Saloon at 1210 Polk Street. He was an American citizen and voted in 1893. George was a member of the Croatian Slavonic Illyric Society of 1857 and the Austro-Military Society.  He came from the Island of Brac, Dalmatia in Croatia.
