BRAJKOVIC---BRAJKOVICH
Brajkovich
is a well-known family name which is found in all parts of Croatia. It is a
fairly common name and is remembered from the area of Poljica as nobility in
1420, having been related to the Miroslavich clan.
It
is interesting to note that the 17th century
bishop of the Senj-Zagreb region was named Brajkovich.
Prior
to the 1900's, Brajkovichs were found in the Los Angeles area and were also
known to be gold miners at Sutter Creek in the famed Amador gold bearing region
of California. Many of the Brajkovichs had immigrated to the United States from
Hercegovina to the Sutter Creek area and are now buried in the Catholic
cemetery at Sutter Creek, California.
