ARTIST BIO

A native of Croatia, pianist Terezija Cukrov has performed widely throughout Europe and North America. As a soloist and chamber musician she has appeared in venues such as Weill Recital Hall, Steinway Hall, Goethe Institute, Lisinki Hall , and has been described by critics as "subtly, passionate and technically superior performer".

Ms. Cukrov received her Bachelors degree from Zagreb University in Croatia and Masters degree from Mannes College of Music in New York. Her principal teachers include Ljubomir Ga¹paroviæ, Konstantin Bogino, Jerome Rose and Susan Starr.

She has participated and performed in many international festivals including the International Keyboard Institute and Festival, The Birth and Flowering of Romanticism Festivals and has attended master classes by distinguished artists such as Pavlina Dokovska, Marina Horak, Vladislav Kovalsky, Victor Rosenbaum, Claude Frank and Charles Rosen.

Terezija Cukrov has recorded for Take Dance Company and Albany records, and has been heard on Croatian Radio, RTS and WNYC.

Besides being an active performer, Ms. Cukrov has several years of teaching experience. She is currently on the faculty of The Monmouth Conservatory in Red Bank, New Jersey, and is on adjunct faculty of Montclair University. She also maintains an active private studio in New York area and serves on the faculty of Rutgers University, where she is pursuing her DMA degree under tutelage of Daniel Epstein.

Together with her sister, pianist Martina Cukrov, she founded the Terra Magica Music Festival in 2004, acting as the program director of Parens Classics concert series and faculty of the Summer Music Academy, both taking place in Poreè, Croatia. Her students at the Academy include prize-winners of national and international competitions as well as students who have entered major music schools all over the world.
