His Excellency, The President of Croatia, Mr. Stjepan Mesic and Honorary Consul of Croatia for Italy, Dr. Nela Srsen launch the International Croatian House Initiative at a Benefit Gala MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2007 AT 7:00 P.M.

Evening Includes Benefit Dinner and Scheduled Performances by Famed Croatian Musicians

ZAGREB, Monday, November 12, 2007 - The Board of the Croatian House Initiative announced today an upcoming Benefit Gala in support of the launch of the International Croatian House Initiative, on Monday, November 12th at 7:00 p.m. at the Regent Esplanade Hotel.

The President of Croatia, Stjepan Mesic and Honorary Consul of Croatia for Italy, Dr. Nela Srsen will officially launch the initiative during the gala.

The Gala program will include a black-tie fundraising dinner and dancing with scheduled performances by Arsen Dedic, Gabi Novak, Matija Dedic, Oliver Dragojevic, Nina Badric, Trio Orlando, Blanka Tkalcic Breglec, Arijana Culina, Sandra Bagaric, and Kemal Monteno. There will be an auction with paintings, sculptures, and jewelry from well known Croatian artists and designers such as Mato Jurkovic, Durdica Horvat, and Lana Martinovic Cala.

Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Croatian House Initiative.

Lead sponsors include: The Regent Esplanade, Zagreb, Roto Promet, and Hip Media. Gala chairs are Sanja Guc (Croatia), Martina Sola (United States), and Snjezana Ivic (Croatia).

The honorary host committee includes: Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Croatia, Mrs. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Minister of Science, Education and Sports, Croatia, Mr. Dragan Primorac, President of the Red Cross, Croatia, Mr. Jadranko Crnic, Former Prime Minister of Croatia, Mr. Zlatko Matesa, Secretary of State of Croatia, Mr. Drazen Breglec, President of Region Veneto, Italy, Mr. Giancarlo Galan, musician, Mr. Tonko Ninic, musician, Mr. Zlatan Stipisic Gibonni, musician Mr. Arsen Dedic, World Cup Champion, Mr. Zvonimir Boban, European Cup Basketball Champion and former NBA player, Mr. Dino Radja.

The international event committee consists of: Linda Mateljan (Australia), Darrell Saric (Canada), Nika Brlecic (Croatia), James Price Chuck (United States), and Hrvoje Roginic (Croatia).

Additional notable scheduled attendees include: President of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mr. Zeljko Komsic, Minister of Health and Social Services, Croatia, Neven Ljubicic, Prime Minster of Italy, Mr. Silvio Berlusconi, and Mr. Flavio Briatore of Italy (Renault Formula 1 and Benetton).

Gala tickets are 500 Euros per person and are available by direct invitation. Tables can be reserved for 7,500 Euros.

About The Croatian House Association:

The Croatian House Association was created with the purpose of providing a "home away from home" for families of the seriously ill receiving treatment in the University of Padova Hospital in Padova, Italy. Patients come from countries with underdeveloped health care systems such as Croatia and other Eastern European countries.

Championed by renowned Croatian surgeon and humanitarian, Dr. Nela Srsen, the Croatian House in Padova will provide a much needed temporary residence near the University of Padova Hospital facilities for family members of the critically ill. The residence will also house medical students and other health care professionals, from south-east Europe, for educational purposes so as to give them the skills and knowledge to care for patients back home.

The Croatian House Association has received the direct support of the President of Croatia, Stjepan Mesic as well as numerous famed international celebrities and political dignitaries.

"Hrvatska kuæa" je humanitarna udruga èiji je trenutni projekt kupnja jedne kuæe u Padovi u Italiji koja bi bila namijenjena boravku hrvatskih graðana u te¹kim situacijama odlaska na lijeèenje u stranu zemlju, koje èesto puta zna biti dugotrajno.

Uvijek èinim sve ¹to mogu za svoj narod i dalje èinim ono ¹to se èini nemoguæim, ali bolesniku se ne smije odbiti pomoæ, pogotovo kad su u pitanju djeca. Mnogi moji pacijenti su siroma¹ni i uvijek nalazim neki naèin da se pokriju tro¹kovi lijeèenja, meðutim ostaje veliki problem smje¹taja u Padovi za vrijeme boravka na lijeèenju. Noæenje u Padovi je skupo, a ja ne mogu sve pacijente smjestiti u svojoj ili kuæama svojih prijatelja. Pacijenata iz Hrvatske je sve vi¹e, nekada i po 15 odjednom, a neki se odluèe za spavanje u autima ili ljeti na klupama kao jedino rje¹enje. Nemaju se gdje niti presvuæi niti oprati, nemaju novca za jelo u restoranima, nemaju si gdje ne¹to skuhati, a cijeli dan potom provode uz svoje najmilije u bolnici...
