Featuring dazzling choreography and unique musical arrangements, The Vanaver Caravan's "Pastures of Plenty" is an irresistible and unforgettable program for the whole family, magically weaving together the songs and stories of America's favorite troubadour, Woody Guthrie. Travel with us from the California orchards to the New York Island, through the 1930's Dust Bowl to miners' shanties. Feel that lonesome highway, visit the Union Hall, and discover little-known gems along the way, such as the "Peace Pin Boogie" and "Vigilante Man," and much more. Woody's America bounds to life with music created live on stage. Our spirited dancers romp with Harlem's Lindy Hop, Western squares, Virginia reels and Appalachian clogging. Sounds of Leadbelly's 12 string guitar, Southern blues harmonica, Carter Family, New England fiddlers, and mountain hollers fill the air.
"These highly versatile dancers all eagerly explore every cranny of their art and create an evening alight with the joy of discovery." (Doris Hering, Dance Magazine)
"...in the end, everyone is on their feet cheering!" (Pete Seeger).
