Mario Ancic triumphs in St Petersburg
Ancic is hoping to make the end-of-season Masters Cup Croatia's Mario Ancic boosted his chances of making the end-of-season Masters Cup by beating Thomas Johansson in the final of the St Petersburg Open. Ancic, the third seed, saw off the defending champion from Sweden 7-5 7-6 (2) to claim his third career title. Ancic trailed the former Australian Open champion 5-2 in the second set before winning a tie-break 7-2. The Masters Cup in Shanghai is open to the top eight players in the ATP Race - Ancic was 11th before St Petersburg.
