The Croatian Academy of America

The Croatian Academy of America invites you to join it for its 48th Annual
Dinner to take place on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at The New York Hilton
Hotel, 1335 Avenue of the Americas (between 53rd and 54th Street), New York,
New York 10019. The reception begins at 7:00 pm with dinner starting at
7:30 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $75 per person and includes wine,
gratuities and tax (bar drinks are extra).

To attend, please send your check made payable to the Croatian Academy of
America to the Academy at PO Box 1767 Grand Central Station, New York, New
York 10163-1767. Please indicate on the check that it is for the Annual
Dinner. You can also make reservations by telephone by e-mail at
croatacad@aol.com


The Croatian Academy of America is a nonprofit educational organization,
founded 1953 and incorporated in the State of New York on December 17, 1956.
The certificate of incorporation was further amended in 1962.

The purpose for which the Academy is formed is to educate the members and
public generally concerning Croatian literature, culture and history by
sponsoring lectures on these subjects and by procuring and causing to have
published articles on these subjects in the organization's journal.
To receive voluntary contributions from members and donors and gifts from
benefactors to be used and applied of, the aforesaid educational purpose.

The Academy publishes the only English-language scholarly journal devoted to
Croatian history, art and culture.

Inspired by the persistent desire of the CroatianNation for its proper dignity before all men, realizing that no People can makea responsible contribution towards a peaceful and democratic world without beingfreely self-determined i.e. endowed with the right to choose its own sovereignstate, recollecting that Croatian liberty has been frustrated for centuriesbecause of tyranny from without and within, conscious that the denial of freedomat home often requires the conservation of the national genius abroad, mindfulthat the friendly guardianship of the just aspirations of men has always beenthe keynote of American hospitality, we herewith establish and constitute TheCroatian Academy of America.
