Environment in Croatia

Dear All,

I received the following answer from prof. Banac, who is now Minister for
the Environment in Croatia, regarding my concern and views about
DruzbAdria.

Republika Hrvatska
Ministarstvo
Zastite Okolisa i Prostornog Uredjenja

Zagreb, 19th Nov. 2003

Dear Mrs. Foley,

I am very glad that you share our concern about the DruzbAdria project
because this project has great impact on matters of environmental
protection in Croatia.

I can assure you that I will not give approval to this project if the
environmental impact assessment does not show that the project is
acceptable for the environment.

We are very aware that any oil spill would be catastrophic for years to
come for the whole region. It is my opinion that citizens of Croatia
should decide about this project through a referendum.

Hoping that you will show the same interest for environmental questions
in the future as well as nowadays,

Sincerely,

signed:
Minister
Ivo Banac
