Knox Choraliers to present concert

MOUNT VERNON — Knox Choraliers will present their Holiday Concert on Sunday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 100 E. High St. The ensemble will sing at the 10:30 a.m. service and again in concert at 3 p.m.

The performances will feature music of many styles and countries, including carols from England, Germany and Croatia, two carols by contemporary English composer, John Rutter, “Jubilate Deo,” a canon which will be sung in Latin and the 15th century carol, “Unto Us a Child is Born” which will be accompanied by three recorders played by Christine Aust, Diane Cook and Ruth Dunnell as well as cello and string bass by Scott Patterson and Elena Reiss.

Knox Choraliers, offered through the Gifted Education Department of the Mount Vernon City Schools and the Knox County schools, is in its ninth year of service to children of Knox County who are interested in developing musical skills. Membership is open to children who have treble voices, can sing in tune and are in grades four through eight with younger children accepted by audition.

New members will be accepted in January. For more information call the director, Diane Digler at 393-5990, Ext. 252. The public is invited to attend the performances.
