Dear Friends & Colleagues, We hope you will join theSylvan Winds on

THURSDAY, JANUARY 16 AT 8:00 P.M. at
THE NATIONAL ARTS CLUB for
WIND QUINTET TREASURES

at

THE NATIONAL ARTS CLUB located at 15 Park Gramercy Park South (20th Street)
Tickets are $25/$15 for students and seniors.

For further ticket information, please call (212) 222 - 3569

Program:

RAMEAU Gavotte & Six Doubles (arr. by R. Nakagawa)
PISTON Three Pieces for flute, clarinet & bassoon (1926)
DAHL Allegro & Arioso (1942)
SCARMOLIN Scherzino all'antica & Badinage
COWELL Suite for Woodwind Quintet (1933)
BOZZA Variations sur un Thème Libre (1943)

Following our 25th Anniversary Celebration featuring Ransom Wilson conducting a masterful performance of the Strauss Suite, the Sylvan Winds return for another season of concerts in New York City.

With the exception of Nakagawa's delightful arrangement of Rameau's Gavotte & Six Doubles, this program features works written by American and French composers during the 20's, 30's and 40's. Both Piston and Dahl were exposed to French influences, contrasting with Cowell's distinctive voice and Scarmolin's 'traditional' one not affected as much by outside influences.

We hope you, your friends, family and colleagues will be able to join us. A champagne reception follows the performance, and if you wish to have a pre-concert dinner in the historic surroundings (Martin Scorcese filmed "Age of Innocence" in one of the parlors), you may do so by calling the club, (212) 475-3424. Just tell them you are attending the Sylvan Winds concert.

If there are others whom you think may be interested, please forward this reminder.

For reservations & information, please call (212) 222 - 3569

Hope to see you there and wishing you a prosperous New Year !
