Programme Co-ordinator for Balkans Access to Safety, Security and 
Justice Programme 

The British Council is looking for people to work on a forthcoming 
potential programme in the Balkans(currently being tendered). We need a 
skilled programme co-ordinator to manage a large SSAJ programme 
spanning Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, and 
Montenegro. The 3-year programme, funded from the UK Balkans Conflict 
Prevention Fund, has the goal of developing a well functioning justice 
system to reduce the sources of conflict in the region. The aim is 
for public bodies to implement justice strategies which effectively reduce 
local tension and conflict, and prevent crime. The emphasis is on 
affordable policies which will link all parts of the justice system 
and address the needs of users; community based justice, policing and 
crime prevention; and mechanisms for lesson learning across the region. 

The Programme Co-ordinator will be required to: 
* provide leadership for the programme and ensure it delivers its outputs 
* provide regular verbal and written reports to DFID and the Field Manager 
* Liase with other projects funded by DFID and international donors 
* Co-ordinate programme activity 
* Identify technical assistance requirements 
* Monitor and report on progress 
* Disseminate knowledge and learning across the region 
* Be responsible for financial management and oversight 

The candidate needs to have: 
* Knowledge of the Balkans 
* Understanding of DFID Safety, Security and Access to Justice Strategies 
* Management experience including change management
