On the club level, he played for Basel (Switzerland), Shalke 04 (Germany), Sevilla (Spain), Barcelona (capital of Catalonia, in Spain), Al-Shabab (Saudi Arabia), and Hajduk (Croatia). With his beautiful wife Raquel Mauri he has two children. According to Jose Mourinho, he is "one of the most underrated players in the world".
