What an honor!
Ivana Marija Vidović presided over the international piano competition in Italy

Respected Dubrovnik pianist, Ivana Marija Vidović, returned from Italy full of impressions after chairing the international piano competition 'Ariano International Piano Competition.' Being the head of the jury, she emphasized that it came as a pleasant surprise, and the entire experience enriched her. She mentioned that once again, she had the opportunity to represent her hometown. The competition and the judging of eminent musicians took place at the Museo Civico e Della Ceramica, located in the Forte Palace in the old part of Ariano Irpino. The competition was conceived by the young pianist Remo Raimondo Mazzeo. Besides Ivana Marija Vidović, who chaired the international jury, the members were Remo Mazzeo, Arianna Bonatesta, Marco Ciampi, and Giuliano Adorno.

Judging among numerous young artists and the more experienced ones was not easy, our renowned pianist said, as she noted the names of the winners.

"The winners are Luigi Coppola, Category B First Prize + scholarship, Giuseppe Antonio Buonavita, Category C First Prize + scholarship, Lorenzo Savarese, Category E First Prize + Concerto for piano and orchestra, Marian Ayala Moreno, Category F Second Prize + concert prize in the 23/24 season organized by Associazione Italia Musica, Alessandro Capone, Category F First Prize + Concert in Croatia offered by Ivana Marija Vidović + Concerto for piano and orchestra in the 23/24 season organized by Associazione Italia Musica," Vidović noted, along with a few words of gratitude at the end of the competition.

"Honestly, from the depths of my soul, I thank my young colleague Remo Mazzeo for his hospitality, as well as the mayor Enrico Franza and the entire city administration of Ariano Irpino, who provided maximum support for the competition. Thanks to the organizers for a wonderful stay and the great honor they entrusted to me. I am thrilled and honored that I could present my homeland Croatia and my wonderful Dubrovnik within such a beautiful and commendable project. I always carry the city with me, as well as Croatia. This competition has shown how strong our bonds are, and the power of youth is a common wealth for the entire world, which keeps us inspired and courageous. Congratulations to all the winners," Ivana Marija Vidović concluded.

She also revealed an interesting fact - Alessandro Cappone, an artist of Brazilian origin living in Naples, is the absolute winner of the competition and the oldest winner in the last category. This exceptional talent will participate in the 18th Epidaurus Cavtat festival in 2024, thanks to an invitation from our cultural ambassador!

With appropriate words, at the conclusion of the competition, the founder and creator of the 'Ariano International Piano Competition, Maestro Remo Raimondo Mazzeo, addressed all the participants.

"The second edition of the competition is a significant and important step, a leap to an international level, both in terms of candidates from all over the world and an international jury chaired by the renowned Croatian pianist with an international career, Ivana Marija Vidović. The competition is based on supporting young talents, primarily born out of a great desire and necessity. The jury was continuously enriched during the competition, and Ivana Marija Vidović is responsible for the friendly and collegial atmosphere throughout the competition. I sincerely believe there couldn't have been a better choice for the jury president than an internationally acclaimed artist," Maestro Mazzeo emphasized, thanking the 'impressive artist.'

"She presided over our jury splendidly, and she also introduced something that has not been present in competitions so far - she offered an invitation to our absolute winner of the last category for a guest appearance in Croatia. We are delighted," the maestro concluded.

This international piano Competition was supported by the mayor of Ariano Irpino, Mr Enrico Franza, as well as the head of the city's culture department, Mrs Maria Elena de Gruttola, highlighting how cultural ties between our cities have been further strengthened - all thanks to the efforts and dedication of both the founder and the participants, and most importantly, the jury presided over by our renowned pianist, Ivana Marija Vidović.

Među brojnim mladim umjetnicima, kao i onim starijima, nije bilo lako žirirati, napominje nam naša priznata pijanistica, uz zapisana imena pobjednika.

Presretna sam i počašćena da sam mogla unutar ovako lijepog i hvalevrijednog projekta predstaviti moju domovinu Hrvatsku i moj divni Dubrovnik kojeg sam nemalo puta spomenula.
