 | Nikolina Šustić Stanković is the world ultramarathon world champion (100 km!) for 2018. This is one of the greatest achievements of Croatian sports. Native of the city of Split, employed as a computer software tester, she leads a humble life, and became a top sportswoman without any trainer whasoever! This makes her achievment even more amazing. The city of Split is a cradle world class sportsmen and sportswomen: Goran Ivanišević (tennis), Toni Kukoč (basketball), Blanka Vlašić (high jumping), Ivano Balić (handball), ... , to name just a few. |

Ultramaraton race was superbly organized in the town of Sveti Martin na Muri on the north of Croatia.
The corresponding region of Međimurje is known for very specific and beautiful Croatian folk songs.

Nikolina Šustić Stanković, the ultramarathon 100 km champion in 2018 (more than 7 hours and 20 minutes of running!).
The second place has been won by Nela Alder-Baerens (Germany, -2 min) and the third by Mai Fujisawa (Japan, -20 min)
Female team rank is also surprising: 1. Japan, 2. South Africa, 3. Croatia
In the male category, the first three runners were Yamauchi Hideaki, Takehiko Gyoba (Japan) and Bongmasu Mthembu (South Africa).
