Ivana Marija Vidović - success in Amsterdam
Last week, the Dubrovnik pianist Ivana Marija Vidović performed again in Amsterdam as part of the concert season of the Pianola Museum in the heart of a fairy-tale city with 1500 bridges! The successful concert celebrated the great French composer Claude Debussy on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of the composer, while the young Polish violinist Karina Sosnowska also performed with Vidovic while the poetry by Ivana Marija Vidović translated in English were beautifully read by Marijke Brekelmans.
Concert named "Beau Soir" was opened with the song of the same name written by Debussy when he was only 15. The evening started with the recitation of the verses of French writer Paul Bourget, according to whose poems Debussy wrote the music.
In addition to Debussy's works, the program included works by Croatian woman composer Dora Pejačević and works by F. Liszt, M. Ravel, J.Massenet and A. Piazzolla.
In the intermission of the concert the evening was enriched with the inspired recitation of Ivana Marija Vidović's poems from the Flowers' life collection dedicated to Dora Pejačević. It was a very successful evening, and the audience could learn a lot about the Croatian woman composer, about her piano opus that Vidovic presented before her performance. To end that rich evening filled with all emotions, there was also a surprise! The dancing couple Marijke Brekelmans and Ronald Drenten danced the tango with the rhythm and sounds of Astor Piazzolla.
