|Miro Gavran's novel Zaboravljeni sin (Forgotten Son) has been translated from Croatian into Japanese by Ikuko Yamamoto and published in Tokyo by reputed Kindabungeisha Publishing House. It already had nine Croatian editions, as well as in German, English and Castillian, while in 2002 it has been placed on the IBBY HONOUR LIST in Basle, Switzerland. Miro Gavran is a global phenomenon: his books have been translated into 38 languages worldwide.|
U izdanju renomirane izdavačke kuće iz Tokija “Kindabungeisha” objavljen je roman Mire Gavrana “Zaboravljeni sin” na japanskom jeziku. Prijevod je načinilla Ikuko Yamamoto.
Riječ je o romanu koji je do sada imao čak devet izdanja na hrvatskom jeziku, a u prijevodima je objavljen na njemačkom, engleskom i kastiljskom, dok je 2002.godine uvršten na IBBY HONOUR LIST u Baselu u Švicarskoj.
“Zaboravljeni sin” je emotivna i topla ljudska priča pretočena u roman pisan u formi dnevničkih bilježaka. Glavni junak Mislav je dvadesetogodišnjak s blažim teškoćama u razvoju, nakon šesnaest godina boravka u specijalnoj školi u Zagrebu vraća se u rodno, selo, u svoju obitelj. Njegov brat i sestra kao i susjedi, do tada uopće nisu znali za njega, pa se mladić nađe u potpuno novom okruženju i novim odnosima, istrgnut iz svijeta u kojem je živio i na koji je navikao. Mislav teško prihvaća novu okolinu, ali kad upozna djevojku Jasenku, njegov život obogaćuje jedan do tada nepoznat osjećaj - mladenačka ljubav.

Renowned publishing house Kindabungeisha from Tokyo published Miro Gavran's novel "Forgotten Son" in Japanese. Translation was done by Ikuko Yamamoto.
This novel had nine editions in Croatian and it was translated into German, English and Castillian. It was selected for The IBBY Honour List in Switzerland in Basle in 2002 as a novel with artistically convincing human message.
This is emotional and warm story written in form of a journal. Mislav is twenty years old and he is mentally challenged. After sixteen years living in a school for mentally challenged kids in capital he returns to his village and his family. His younger brother and sister, as well as neighbors, didn't even know he existed so he is surrounded by new surroundings and new relationships. He has difficulty accepting his environment but once he meets a girl named Jasenka he will encounter a new emotion - adolescent love.
Miro Gavran's work has been translated into 38 languages and it was published all around the world - from Vienna, Paris, Oslo, Prague, Bratislava, Krakov and Sofia all the way to Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Sankt Peterburg, Peking, Cairo, Istanbul...
