Through the fundraising efforts of the Chamber and the Sounds of Croatia and, thanks to the overwhelming support of the Croatian-Canadian community living primarily in Toronto and surrounding areas in Ontario, we were honoured to present the City of Vukovar with a donation of C$205,000 (approximately 1,100,000 kunas). |
 Vukovar Water Tower Restoration Project Fundraising Report Vukovar Water Tower – A Symbol of Croatian Unity On September 30, 2016, the Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce and the Sounds of Croatia Radio Program in Toronto launched the Vukovar Water Tower Restoration Project Fundraising Campaign. The water tower, one of the most famous symbols of Vukovar, the suffering of this heroic city, and the Croatian War of Independence, was largely destroyed after being hit more than 600 times during the siege of Vukovar. The water tower is planned to be transformed into a memorial to recall the pain and suffering that Vukovar endured and the resistance of the Croatian people as well as to serve as a symbol of victory and new life. Through the fundraising efforts of the Chamber and the Sounds of Croatia and, thanks to the overwhelming support of the Croatian-Canadian community living primarily in Toronto and surrounding areas in Ontario, we were honoured to present the City of Vukovar with a donation of C$205,000 (approximately 1,100,000 kunas).
